When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning gang :T

Thought I'd start the thread off before I drag myself out of bed to get ready for workshire :o

Hi to all newbies :D, and hugs to those that need them and grrr to nasty bosses/colleagues for those who are having 'work issues' (myself included :o)

Lots to do today, so I guess I had better get on....

Today I have/will:
  • Checked online banking - random interest has been paid to me so moved it to my aat account.....and rounded my main account and transferred the extra also to my aat fund
  • Meals and snacks from home
  • Need to put £2 coin in my sealed pot
  • Need to withdraw £5 as I borrowed some money from someone (I didn't want to break into the £2 coin)
  • Will use rail pass to get to workshire
  • Read papers online and get the freebie paper at the station
  • Need to work on my application letter for someone to proof read.....although, found out that 17 people have applied via linkedin and 23 people have applied via reed's website
  • Worked out how much I have spare for my trip to London on Sunday......payday in a week's time
  • Keep an eye out for local jobs
  • Have an early night
  • May do some college work (this has been on my list all week)

Think that's my lot

Take care all

Morning Candy, thanks for starting us off! And morning to everyone else that follows.

Getting myself hyped up for today, really not feeling it! But it's Thursday, which means it's almost Friday... I'll be thinking of everyone else having work issues at the moment.

    This is me:
    - Checked banking
    - Wearing glasses today not contacts
    - Order more contacts frm cheap online place
    - Review budgets after my first 0% switch last night :D
    - Text ex about other £100 of maintenence and half of passport charge, not holding out much hope
    - BLD from stores
    - Email HR to see if I can reduce my childcare vouchers as I'm building up a massive credit with the nursery
    - Drive more fuel efficiently, I am NOT very good at this, I know before I get bombarded with tips etc but I just don't do it
    - Do some HC tonight and hang on airer
    - Research what mileage the company pays for when they send me to work in another branch for a week
    - Work out childcare arrangements for the above week
    - Try to sparkle!

    Jx

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning All

    Today at work again so:

    1) Tonight I am cooking mince which I will split into two batches, one will be going into a spag bol this evening, the rest I will spice and add beans to and serve for chilli con carne the following evening.

    2) Checked balances. The last DD of the month went out today and we still have £77 left to play with. I suspect OH has £10 ear marked for coffee etc at work until Mondays payday, but if I let him have that, he'll play ball for the rest of the weekend :)

Think thats it for me today. But feeling pretty happy and on top of things.

    Over and out!

Morning everyone. Thanks candy for starting us off. Though you will get me on my soapbox about sealed pots again one of these days :rotfl:

I need to get some exercise! I've been quite bad this week because I've been working late most evenings. Feels a bit cold for a run so I'll probably get the cross trainer out, but I MUST do something today. I might try getting off the train a few stops earlier than normal tonight and walking back from there instead of my nearest one. My line goes in a bit of a loop so if I get off at my local station I've got a 20 minute walk home, and from any of the 3 before (or the one after) its between 45-60 minutes, so in terms of the time taken to get back, if I get off one stop earlier, I may as well get off 3 earlier!

    Today I have/will
    Free toiletries in the shower
Checked online banking - dd for CC1 has gone out as expected
Made prawn salad to take to work for dinner
    Walk to station
    Free rail pass to work
Read free paper on the train
    Free tea/coffee/water at work
Tea from stores, I've got bacon and mushrooms that need using up, so I'll do them with some pasta
    Have a NSD

    Have a great day everyone

    Morning everyone!

Had a bit of a rejiggle of debt last night (going spreadsheet mad!), all my debt (apart from a £3.5k loan) is on my mums 0% cards, the 0% expires soon and she's got another one so I can transfer it over! :) (my credit is so bad I can't get 0% cards yet). Need to finish sorting this tonight but looks like I might have them all paid off a month earlier than expected!
    :j

    List for today
    • Checked bank done
    • Checked app done
    • Bought parking for bf at his station, he paid back straight away done
    • Lunch from home done
    • Leave work dead on tonight done
    • Stay in at lunch went to boots and got choc on boots card points
    • NSD done - not classing boots care points as spending (this may be cheating tho!)

Did the survey on visit Orlando for £2.17 cashback (thanks ally!)

Will add more later.... Train is nearly at the station

    Xx

i checked my noddle account today and my rating has gone up from 1/5 to 3/5! I know the ratings don't really mean much but really happy with it!! Might treat myself to a choc bar at lunch (on boots card so not technically spending :p
    :j

    Stuff to do tonight:
    • Sort out spreadsheet and get last CC payment to be Nov instead of Dec
    • Make lunch for tomorrow
    • Need to call tmobile as they are charging my too much each month. Probably leave this until tomorrow

    morning all!
Everyone sounds very positive today! Today my things are :

    - used up last of the bath creme (prob 8years old sitting in back of cupboard!) as shower gel
    - used the little shower eggtimer thing I got free from waterboard (times you for 4 minutes)
    - breakfast at home, lunch brought in (left over veg curry with rice and yoghurt and mango chutney with some fruit and piece of home made cake for emergency hunger crisis aversion!)
    - making most of free tea, coffee and hot chocolate at work
    - a bit thrilled as sister kindly paid me back for cinema ticket for last night (i was due to go with DH but he is away this week and couldnt make it so she came along - was not expecting her to pay me for it but she did - bless! so putting that away against grocery budget for next month).
    - wearing clothes that dried on the washing line yesterday and got so blown about there are no creases therefore no ironing - yay!
-another alcohol free day today - yay!
    - cooking meatfree dinner tonight
    - waiting for garage to tell me how much they will buy my car back for, before I decide whether to sell privately and then go and buy something cheaper/smaller....
    - used free calorie tracking app - I LOVE it and have lost 2 stone already - just a few last pounds to go which will be easy peasy now that I am barely drinking.
    - will have heating on v low this evening and lie on sofa, under warm blanket and read a book before going to bed early :-)
Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...
Debt-free, now focussing on being mortgage-free
    MORTGAGE : [STRIKE]Dec 2012 £133,602[/STRIKE]. Dec 2013 £114,092.47 July 2015 £85654

    Gooooood morning!!

Feeling a bit better today, it's amazing what a snuggle with my two dogs and DH does to lift my mood :)

Today I will try and not quit my job!
Check banking, one DD left to come out
LSD, need something for lunch. And possibly dinner, but there is money left in the food budget to cover
Do swagbucks, onepoll, check competitions board and freebies
Tonight I will cut out the remainder of my patchwork squares, going to make http://dsquilts.com/fabric_and_patterns.asp?PageID=187 this for my niece. For her birthday on Sunday,

Need to make a start on next months budget as well, I seem to work well if it's all written down, just need to get it written down :o

I will try and be more positive today. Only I can help myself to feel better, to be better. I need to make more of an effort with everything in my life!

    Have a good day y'all! x
Can't think of anything smart to put here...
