Am I right in thinking I can't claim?

On 21st Feb 2005 my Alitalia flight from Rome to London was delayed about 20 hours. We waited airside for about 10-12 hours, before being told to return landside where we were then told the flight would be the next morning instead. We had no help or compensation with/for anything. The delay was due to the flight attendants striking, but we were made to wait all day as we were told they could "change their minds" at any point throughout the day, until of course it then became too late to fly!
For a flight on 2nd July 2006 with Easyjet we received an email a few days before we were due to fly (London to Amsterdam) saying that our flight was cancelled so we had to use a link sent in the email to re-book another one later that day (we chose the next available which was 4 hours later).
Am I right in thinking I cannot claim for either of these occurrences? Just want to be sure, thanks
