Car Insurance after BR

I'm with Tesco and have had no issues. I was with them before BR and informed them and they had a word with "the boss" and because I had never missed a payment they were fine with me continuing. If you go to the comparison sites there will be a box to tick to say if you have ever been bankrupt. That will then bring up a list of quotes from lenders who accept BR.

Read through the T&C's and see if it mentions BR. Most insurances have a list of things you either have to answer yes or no to and BR appears there a lot. If there is no mention at all of BR in any T&C's etc then I would say you are good to go. Just make sure you keep a copy of them just in case.
EDIT: An example from Tesco website before you even start your quote:
Can you answer 'yes' to ALL these questions about you and your car?
I keep my car at my home address overnight
My car is less than 26 years old
My car hasn't been modified other than for disabled use (such as hand controls, hoist, infrared controls, raised roof, tail lift, wheelchair clamps or straps, wheelchair lift, ramp or winch)
My car is a UK model that hasn't been imported and hasn't got more than 8 seats.
My car isn't currently impounded by the police or any other authority
I, or my spouse or civil partner, am the owner and registered keeper of the car
I haven't been declared bankrupt or have any unsatisfied court judgements (e.g. CCJs).
My No Claims Discount (if any) has been earned in the UK, in my name as policyholder, and within the last two years. 0 -
So if it says .
I haven't been declared bankrupt or have any unsatisfied court judgements (e.g. CCJs).
How come they let you have the insurance?
Surelu if you have to claim, you have broken their terms and conditions and can invalidate your insurance.
It might have been okayed by the boss, but sounds dodgy to me.0 -
I have it in writing that I am allowed the policy after stating I was BR and I have written down dates and times of calls that I have specially stated I was BR so that recordings can be dug out.0

I just renewed with Zurich and had a really good price. Had to pay the annual payment though due to BR, but the quote was really good.0

Its stupid I know but im really scared of getting turned down for paying monthly. I have about 2 and a bit weeks to do this before my currant insurance runs out so I know I have to do it but keep putting it off!
Does anyone else feel like this,? I think its having to admit to someone on the phone that I have been br.
Hate to think they are looking down on me!
Had to do it a couple of times since br and hate that feeling.
Have had a few set backs recently so maybe thats why.
Anyway must do something about it in next couple of days.
If I try to do it on line and it turns me down is that going to show on my credit file?0 -

Understand totally. My renewal isn't up till next month and I haven't even went bankrupt yet (paid the fees and got a date for 11th April due to easter holidays)
I'm wondering if be possible for a partner to take out insurance on my behalf as me as the main driver with my no claims and she could pay monthly? Or could I renew now before the 11th?
Other than that I've still all my creditors to tell , handle letting the mortgage company know which im not looking forward too and deal with having no bank account! So chin up.... I've still everything to 'look forward' too (if you know what I mean. lol) Hope you get sorted.0 -

If your not telling a creditor then I'm sure sure the response you will get is 'sorry to hear that' or at least it was in my experience. Never ha any one of the limited people i told look down their nose and if they did it was on the end of a phone:D0 -

I have also used LV but when I rang for a renewal figure they credit checked- they didn't on the original Internet policy though.
Still being a nervous nellie about this! Have been on go compare and swiftcover is coming up cheapest but no question about br so not sure. Anyone allowed to pay monthly? I want to get he best deal possible and need to pay monthly.
Next two are esure and shelias wheels. Any one any experienc of these two?0 -
Hi, I have just renewed mine with shielas wheels, i asked if it would be a problem being BR, after going away to check with the underwriter he said no problem at all. As i had been with them for a couple of years paying monthly with no missed payments they would allow me to carry on with the monthly payments, but if i had been a new customer i would have had to pay for the whole year upfront. It was such a good deal ( £200 less than last year ) i paid for the whole year anyway. Good luck with your search
