the diamond card is avilable for over 60's on a wednesday only and its for 10% off

You will not be able to use it for her, she will be the only one (or someone else over 60 that you know that could get a card also) that can use it.

If you wanted stuff for yourself you could go with the person over 60 and choose what you want and then they pay for it and use the discount card.

But as you have said that she wont be able to make the shopping trip herself then no you wont be able to use it for her.

I was once challenged when my mum handed her card over and I then handed my Switch card over to pay for the goods - the cashier looked at me and said 'you are looking good for an over 60 year old'! Sarky mare!

I was actually paying for mums goods cos she had genuinely forgotten to bring enough money with her, (saw something extra she hadn't planned to buy) but when I do want to get a discount for myself I make sure I'm paying cash and then just give mum the money prior to reaching the tills.

So my advice is pay with cash and then there is no query. The card is instantly 'pickupable' and usable too. :)

  • I think you can use it for all things bought instore, i ordered some wardrobe doors for my mum and they wouldnt let her use her discount card, something to do with not being allowed to use on concessions...

Thanks. Could you use it on their self serve tills and just swipe the card?

  • Im sorry, i dont know the answer to that.. but if i was to guess i would say probably not as they wouldnt be able to check that you are over 60.. All i know is that if i buy things from the store when i go down to pay i usually give my mum cash and she hands over the over 60's card, just so they ask no questions.
Hopefully someone else will come along and be able to answer it for you properly.
  • Yes, almost certain you can. I think last time we were in B&Q we used the self serve till and used hubby's card.
