Advice plz - Reversible travel system

Options

Hi there,

I am due in May this year and we are looking to buy a reversible travel system. I have researched a bit online and have been to Maamas and Papas but to be honest it has been a minefield icon_sad.gif

I did like the Graco Evo and the Britax B Smart 4 but not sure.

Could anyone please advice on a travel system that is fit for new born and is reversible around £200-£350 mark.

Also, we have a small Suzuki Alto which is about 8 years old. Would any car seat fit in the car?

thanks

Im not an expert on prams but we got a cheapish Graco one and it was worst decision we've ever made. It makes this horrible noise whenever we turn the break on and off (usally for about half an hour some stupid clicking noise) its really difficult to get up and down (even after doing the same thing everytime it just wont go down alway sometimes!) and the basket underneath has metal bars above it so you can barely get a changing bag into it (although it would fit if the bars wernt stopping it orignally going in) will be glad to get shut of it.

I just wouldnt trust Graco as a brand.
People don't know what they want until you show them.
  • I've bought the Red Kite Zebu. Had great reviews, comes with everything you need and was £280ish. You get car seat, chassis, carrycot and "normal" pram seat for that, and the pram is reversable (I insisted on this, was very important for me).

I have a Citroen C1 and it fits in the boot of that without the pram bit on (really easy to take off and on again) but any car thats bigger I wouldnt imagine having an issue.

I regret not spotting the b-smart when I was pram shopping for my first child to be honest - I've got the double version now and love it so it's a bit like "grrr why did I miss that one"

I had a second-hand iCandy cherry - that was a nice pram but not suitable from birth without either a carseat (not for long periods of time) or a carrycot on it.

I'll add though that we didn't really have to consider boot space as an issue since we have a car boot big enough to carry a couple of big idiotic dogs in.

Regarding the car seat - best to have it fitted in the car to make sure it's suitable. Some stores will do this (Kiddicare, Mothercare, some independent stores) or your council's Road Safety team might be able to help.

Hi. We are due in June and picked up a mamas and papas sola with £100 off as they have discontinued the colour. Its front & rear facing & u can buy car seat and carrycot to go on the frame. We paid £199 for pushchair and go 2nd hand carrycot for £50. We went for maxicosi isofix car seat & base for another £175 but mamas & papas sell aton seat cheaper which is compatible. Look at the m&p zoom as well. They have a 365 returns policy. Hth.

I personally would avoid Graco. Mamas and papas are much better, they currently have the zoom for £299 which includes the carrycot. I haven't tried one personally but am thinking of buying it for my 16 month old and i can definitely recommend mamas and papas as a brand HTH :)
