How much will the gunsmith charge to sort it?
There are only about 20 parts in an air rifle.
Sorry pal, I missed this post.
I haven't sorted all that out precisely yet, but should be about £50-100 at the very most.
As to the parts.... IDK I'm afraid. What I can tell you is it's a PCP and is billed as the most technologically advanced air rifle ever built. But I think that's more to do with the circuit board inside it rather than the mechanics of it all because that hasn't changed much in 400 years or so.0 -
If the price is reasonable and not over-inflated or something then even without several quotes it's likely a judge would award you the cost of repair.
thank you for your opinion. It does sound fair to me.
As to the fairness of the quote - it will be pretty standard. They only people who I found quoted me more for a service originally were the factory! Besides, this gunsmith is also the official repair centre for this particular manufacturer, so that should be in my favour I'd have hoped.0 -
You stand a good chance of being able to reclaim charges as you gave them repeated chances to fix it, and sent an LBA, which I believe the deadline had passed before they contacted you?
As Arcon says, as long as the costs are reasonable etc, you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Remember when claiming for the silencer that, again, you need to mitigate losses (eg repair costs or second hand item in same condition)
Glad your rifle is fixed!
thanks Again MamaMoo
yes I'm glade too. I don't want to speak to early, but I'm pretty confident.
The silencer is an odd one. I didn't need a new silencer, and I'd be happy to let them have it back only they have broken my old one. basically they told me they needed to drill it to fix it, but it might break it and I told them to go ahead.
Th deadline was actually met. it was I that jumped the gun. The letter was dated 19th and today is the 21st, which was the last day. The post didn't come in the morning so I assumed it wasn't going to. But it was there when I got back.....
I'm guessing that i have shot myself in the foot?!?? Lol:(0 -
I got the rifle back today and it's perfect
it was never damaged, it was just put back together by an incompetent person.... Even if they are the manufacturers!
Anyway, my invoice basically says that they just rebuilt the rifle and the letter from the manufacturer states that they basically have done everything they can...... So I'll chance court and see what the judge thinks.
I'll update when something happens next.0 -

Thanks. I have (sort of) been following but misunderstood the last post from the OP.
Fair enough. Hope OP wins then.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
