They allow changing of products as above. Just give them a call - shame it came 2 weeks too late for us but such is life as I'd much rather have spent the £849 on something else :)

Number I used for Britannia - 01538 399399 - just ask for Britannia mortgages
  • How much can you overpay by each month/year?

I've had a quick look on the Co-op's site but can't seem to find that out.

I'm going to remortgage very soon and was looking at a tracker of 2.29% + BBR (i.e. 2.79% as well), with no fees. Although, if I could fix for 5 years at the same rate (and still with no fees), I rather do that :D

I'm really tempted by this deal but don't know what to do

I am currently lucky enough to be a standard variable rate of 2.5% with Cheltenham and Gloucester. I like the idea of a fixed rate but have read that interest rates are likly to remain very low for many years. I think we only have £73000 and 14 years left on this mortgage. I'm guessing the slight increase in rate isn't going to increase payments massively at this time but I suppose of interest rates remain low in 5 years time I will be kicking myself for ending up on higher svr, what are your thoughts guys
    Cheers

i am very tempted aswell after seeing it on mse. i am on a svr with woolwich at 2.49%. Really dont know whether to risk leaving it as long as possible, because, who knows when rates could change, or snapping up this deal. HELP! dont know what to do for the best

There is a flexible overpayment facility of up to 10% PA which is cumulative (ie up to 10% each year) although if you overpay and then redraw you can not overpay again in the same year.

It is unclear if the year runs Jan-Dec, Apr-March or the anniversary of completion.

Free legals and valuation for remortgages too.
    I think....
  • Not showing this morning yet.

I'm in a slighty different position in that I have a mortgage agreed with the co-op - same 2.79% rate but with £999 fee. Completes 1st May.

As Britannia are owned by Co-op I will see today whether I can switch. I very much doubt it but if it means losing the £150 arrangement fee and re-applying to Britannia I may well do so.

I wonder if their systems will flag up two applications for the same property ( albeit to two different companies).

I also wonder if co-op will also offer the fee free product?

I am so happy I never got around to applying for this last week which has saved me £999.

Is there any difference between Britannia and Co-Op with regards to applying, I notice Britannia allow online applications but that's the only difference I can see.

I will be remortgaging from Halifax so will the Britannia and / or Co-Op cover all the legal and valuation fees, it does mention this on their site but just not sure if there's anything else to pay other than the fee to the Halifax to end their agreement?

    Thanks

    Thanks

I just sent my application this morning, very please with the saving!

My only concern is the valuation I'm on 59% LTV and while I hope there's no change to the value of my house (bought sep 2011) you never know :(
  • Spoke to the call centre this morning. They have changed the product code for the mortgage for me, after going through to their new mortgage enquires dept. - saving £849!
