Britannia Mortgage 5 year Fixed - no fee

  • I phoned Britannia this morning and my valuation was within the 60% LTV threshold for the deal and now I'm just waiting for the conveyancer to carry out the mining searches. This is such a good deal that I almost break out the champagne everytime I get past each stage. :)

My current deal ends in the last week of May and so I have plenty of time left for the few bits and bobs of checks. I can't wait to have it all stamped, sealed and delivered though. Does anyone know how long the process usually takes?

Once it is sorted, I have 5 years of blitzing the mortgage with overpayments ahead, because I really don't think we'll be in a low interest rate environment by then!

Coops solicitors have written asking for certified copies of lots of docs for self and DW. Getting such copies is not cheap afaik - do you think a Brittania branch (we don't have a local coop branch) would do it for free?
    I think....

When we applied the lady told me that they had already determined our identities via credit checks and so we didn't have to send off any photographic evidence. I was surprised at this to be honest. All I have sent to them was a sighned application form (most of which was filled in online) and my last 3 months payslips.

The valuer came around last week and massively undervalued our property (LOL) but from discussion on here and other forums I was totally expecting that.

It seems to be a pretty painless process from our standpoint, but our finances are also pretty straightforward with both of us being PAYE. Are you or your OH self employed? I'd imagine that would complicate things slightly?

It is not for coop underwriters, they just wanted payslips, it is a request from solicitors doing the remortgage for 'money laundering' purposes.
    I think....
  • Of those of you who have applied for this. How long did the process take? I'm sure it will vary person to person but interested in an estimate.
