halifax mobile phone insurance

spilt coke on my phone about a month ago and had problems with charging since then. Now phone has packed up altogether. Tried to claim under warranty but they said it was an insurance job. Reading through the Halifax rewards blurb it says you have to claim within 2 days of the incident but I didn't realise there was a problem at first. Any advice?

You said you had problems charging it, then say you didn't notice a problem at first?

    Which is it?

I guess you are a very rare person that believes that warranties cover accidental damage.
Either pay for repair of buy a new handset.
The only alternative is insurance fraud. If you meant this, then it's simply not clever to try discussing this on a public forum, top result of Google search.

Wow guys think that was all a bit uncalled for. Was to try and sum up the situation quickly but in future I will definitely give the longer version!!! I said I spilt coke on it when in actual fact I am assuming little hands did that as I don't actually know what happened, I just said that on here so I didn't have to go into a lengthy explanation as I am doing now. I just know that a certain member of my family looked kind of suspicious at that time and when I took my phone from them it was a bit sticky so in retrospect I think that is what happened. Fast forward a bit and my phone started playing up and not charging and eventually packed in. I took it to the phone shop basically to find out what happened (it was under warranty and bear in mind I didn't actually know what happened to it - if I had phoned my insurance company at the time then wouldn't that have been fraud if it had been found to be a fault in the phone and I had also googled the phone and quite a few people had had similar problems with charging and loose connections?) It was the phone company that told me it was an insurance job after inspecting the phone. I am not trying to commit fraud it is just now putting everything together and with the benefit of hindsight I am assuming that is what happened. So now that you know the real picture could someone please advise if they think I would be able to claim given that I didn't actually realise that there was a major problem for some time after the event.

You can't claim as you didn't inform the insurance company within 2 days of the incident.

If you do lie and claim, you're committing fraud. But that's up to you, I couldn't care less.

Micro-usb connectors are possibly the weakest point of modern phones. They are just soldered (=glued) to the PCB and very easy to break by applying extra unnecessary force.

If it really feels 'loose' check whether your insurance covers this sort of user-inflicted damage.
