I too would leave them negative feedback, this really is the whole point of the feedback system. OK it could have been a genuine mistake but it really sounds fishy to me.

Take the refund and then don't leave anything yet. Watch her selling items over the next few weeks and if she relists that dress then I would quite happily neg them and you are fully justified to do so.

If after a few weeks the dress is not relisted then at least leave neutral feedback saying the backed out of the sale

    Here's what happened....
I sent back an email saying
Hi...I suggest in future you take a better picture and start at a price you are willing to sell for....please refund me asap, obviously I am disappointed but if you refund me promptly we will leave it at that...regards ****

Not denying it, she apoligised for me being so understanding and refunded me and left me positive feedback.
I couldn't neg as you learn the hard way on ebay and she was pleasant. I left her a positive saying on the lines of...
Dress listed in error sale not completed but refunded immediately.

It's interesting to read others views...thanks all for your input.

I completely agree with the message you sent her, I have never reneged on a sale even when it has cost me money - lesson learnt and as you say start at the price you will accept. I would think the seller made a genuine mistake by pricing it so low, lots of people have inflated ideas about what items will sell for and as you have put, a good photo can make all the difference.

Shame you didn't get your bargain maybe next time.

Flo, I usually think your comments are quite reflective of my own, but this time I think you are too impartial for your own good :)

Negative feedback is not for "biggest crime in the world", its for a poor transaction. True, sellers can redeem themselves by trying to rectify a mistake, but here it simply is not the case.

    1) Somebody put something on ebay that didnt belongto them?
    2) They then accidentally relisted it? And it ran for the entire duration without them noticing it? If its a small seller, they would notice the relist email they received. If they are a bigger seller, they would notice it on their ebay auctions when they log in.
    3) The mum sold it to the daughter? So the mum is the same size as the daughter, but the daughter didnt want it 1st time around when it was put on auction?
    4) Do we have proof of this 1st listing? Would be interesting, especially to see why it didnt sell 1st time.. if that is even the case.
    5) You have been clearly duped by the psychological sob story of a poor sole saying,,, "I will leave you positive, but understand if you give me a negative".
    6) For all you know this seller could use the same trick a lot for low auctions, and waste the time of a lot of people.

Only the OP can see the history of the seller. If you are unsure I would have at least a factual neutral.

I wouldn't have left them any feedback, I would have just let it go. My mum wanted me to sell some bits and pieces for her a while ago but I said no, she just doesn't get that if it sells for peanuts you aren't supposed to say sorry I can't sell it for that.

I don't think the OP has said it has been relisted.

The OP has said that she bought it on an alleged relist..that was my point. 1st post.

Flo, you are a caring person, and would do what you can to make buyers happy. I always post the day auctions end, pay more if needs be to get it there the next day etc.

But even you say in your most recent reply that you shouldnt refuse to sell when it goes for peanuts.... therefore you shouldnt just let it go.

You wouldnt lie to a buyer and stitch them up, yet you will happily lie down and let others do it to you, and not warn others that it will happen to them?

Put the boot on the other foot... if you refused to sell something because it had a poor price, would you expect a negative and consider it just? I would, and that is precisely why I would not do that to a buyer.

You're right I wouldn't do it and if I did I would expect a neg. I just wouldn't leave one in this circumstance.

Perhaps leave a neutral! 'seller disappointed in price so refused sale' or somewhere along those lines and report to ebay as non performing seller and as 'not having item in their possession'

I know its not that big of a deal but still annoying!

The OP has already emailed the seller and said she wont neg.

Personally, I would have left a neutral from the info I know for sure.
If I saw stuff in the sellers history to suggest its a bit more deliberate, then I would neg..even risking my 100% myself :p

Bella4uk, you sound like a good and understanding Ebayer. The seller will have already learnt a lesson as she will still have to pay Ebay a percentage of the sale price.
I have accidentally re-listed on Ebay, so know it is possible. I did it a few days ago with an item I've stopped selling and knew I had already sold/sent the last one. Not sure how I managed it, but I did and am VERY thankful that the buyer didn't neg me since it was a genuine mistake on my part. However, I did refund seconds after I saw the item had sold, not over 5 hours later!! About 2 years ago I was using the Ebay beta software for selling as I didn't mind helping trial their software before it was ready for general relase - This was before it re-listed LOADS of items that I didn't want re-listed and had removed from the list of items to be re-listed. Luckily I didn't sell so many items back then and so did notice straight away and quickly ended the items. I never got credited by Ebay for the cost of listing the items (re-list credits are only available if an item sells).
