Been an AA member for far more years than you...Loyalty means nothing these days, all the best deals are for new customers."Retail is for suckers"

I have to say the AA techs have been very good in my experience. About 15 years ago, one actually changed a cambelt at the side of the road.0

The AA used to have members until 1999, when they demutualised and eventually all members became customers.

I just jump from the RAC to the AA and vice versa every year at renewal time.
I am currently with the RAC and have just received my renewal letter which informs me that my renewal price for basic roadside cover will come to 30 quid(after the application of a discount).
Quidco are offering a £21 cashback on the AAs equivalent cover which will take it down to £17. So I am going to take the risk of a cashback and switch to the AA. Quidco have always paid out to me on the AA before so I consider it more than likely they will do so again and save me £11 on the RAC's offer.0 -
Phoned the RAC today and enquired about membership, was given a discounted price as a joining member. Asked them what the un-discounted price was as I also wished a guide on susequent years membership cost, no way would they disclose it. It seems they just charge what they think they can get away with. Decided not to proceed 1You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

I have just sold my little old Morris Minor and telephoned AA to cancel the Insurance. They want me to pay £50+ in admin and underwriter fees !! Surely this is all covered in what they have been charging me already? Is this normal?? I asked them to tell me where it is written in the T&Cs but they passed me from one dept to another.0

There are often charges with changes to policies and cancellations, I was caught out by a different insurer once before. Should be stated in the T&Cs though.
Feel your pain about being passed about from person to person, having had to make a claim with the AA car insurance brand I wouldn't use them again as communication and having to deal with lots of different people made what should have been something simple into something quite stressful.0 -
Thanks to this thread - I have just gone with Auto national for £50 less. I got the 'Silver AA Cover' Pah! Just another reason to charge more. Clever rebranding!0
