Admiral insurance going up for NOT making a claim!

Had a renwal quote from Admiral up £300, because earlier in the year someone scraped my car in a car park and left without declaring it.
I called the insurance but decided to fix it myself as it wasn't very expensive.
Admiral say that although I didn't claim, it is still part of my driving history!
Are they kidding me? Has anyone else had this experience?

Perfectly normal. You had an incident where no claim was made. So still considered a higher risk.
You do need to declare this for approx 5 years also.
Accident, claims or incidents even where no claim has been made. Or wording to that effect.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thanks for the response. I just don't think it can be right that I am a greater risk when I wasn't even there at the time and I didn't claim.
Seems very unfair.0 -

It could be that you parked badly. Not saying you did but you are put into the pool of people that suffered a claimable event. Some of whom brought it upon themselves. Others were just unlucky victims.
Usually with small knocks, its cheaper just to get it fixed and keep quiet.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Whilst I'm not defending insurers, what you have now told them is that you park in places that bad & dishonest other drivers frequent.
No doubt your insurers attitude is that next time it happens the damage might be worse and your insurer will end up paying so they'll get the cash up front from you via increased premiums0 -
People who have one incident are likely to have more. Well thats their version.
Insurance is only usually fair to the insurance company.
I have a clean record but if i add my sister to who has made several claims in the past couple of years, My premium is cheaper,
Work that one out.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Yes, unfortunately!I was on the motorway when a wooden block fell from a lorry transporting a police vehicle. The block bounced onto the motorway and landed on my bonnet. I reported it to the police and they phoned the company, who admitted it happened.
The next morning they changed their story so I phoned my insurance company. I didn't go ahead with a claim as the damage was very minor (I had just wanted a few scatches in the paintwork repaired).
I was getting insurance quotes last week and two companies refused to quote (online) and a third company (who I phoned) basically doubled the quote when they found a 'claim' on the system. I was mystified...until I phoned my insurance company and it was the 'incident' from last year. So my insurance rose significantly through no fault of my own.
I understand your frustration!"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." Also remember that your 'FREE WINDSCREEN REPAIR' can also be seen as a claim on your insurance too!!!!!!lbm 11/06/12 dept total 11499.470

Well that's how IC's work Ladies and Gentlemen, make a report and your premiums go up, make a claim and your premiums go up, don't make a claim and your premiums go up, car damaged in your absence and the premiums go up !!!!!!
I wonder if these constant premium rises go some way to promote false claims?Campaigning to recycle Insurance Policies into Toilet Paper :rotfl:
