Yep , OP is hopefully sorted , but I thought CCG's ENDED on 1st April 2013???

Now each council has their own 'scheme' and there seems to be strict rules in place to qualify..

A budgeting loan has a limit on how much they allow per person now nomatter how much you apply for - So keep it for the essential items and other stuff you can get really cheaply by looking on here & HUKD eg £4 irons & kettles etc and cheap toasters etc

I really hope you manage to get some nice things for yourself and your other half as why not have some nice things now that you can put your struggles behind you and relax and ENJOY your new home...

I buy things like a huge pretty wall canvas ( £3 at Matalan in the sale! ) and some nice towels in the sales etc as the little things mean a lot often & when they are all put together you have a fabulous home albeit on a budget but you are right , bargain hunting etc is fun

You can make your own curtains and matching cushion covers with £1 metre fabric , Ebay also do some good blinds for around £5-6 , cutlery sets you can get pretty cheap now along with knife sets etc

I'd say try and get one or two small items per week if you can , look out for all the bargains to be had ( eg 70% off sales with an added discount code & free delivery = sweet homeware stuff for next to nothing! )

I did a bit of old and new together with 2nd hand stuff mixed in with the new stuff and I actually love the older ( much more sturdy ) furniture and it has more character than flat pack stuff

Have a lovely time in your new home getting it together , it does take time but I hope you have the basics now like a fridge and cooking stuff etc xx
