New kitchens costs - Opinions please

Sometimes Leif you post the most idiotic things. Please allow me to know what it costs for a good plasterer to do a good professional job in my region over two days rather than someone who just slaps one coat on for a couple of hundred quid elsewhere in the country. Plastering is an art (I can't do it and probably never will.) A good plasterer is worth his weight in gold.
Thank you.
Cheers
KS, you miss the point, it's nothing to do with the quality of the job, it's simply the remuneration expected/demanded.
"Slaps on 1 coat for a couple of hundred quid", no you'd have been robbed if you paid over a ton here.
And the last bit, you can't plaster?, no issues, but I can. The material content of that job is between £20 and £40 unless it is boarded, in which case add another £30 and reduce the labour.
An art form? only when it comes to scamming the client, then it becomes a black artI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Thats most likely correct. I won't pay jack the lad to do slap it up plastering for 150 in his back pocket though. It costs me in the long run and needs doing properly. OPs job is, in effect, whether you like it or not a complete room. Somewhere in the £400 - £500 over region is a good max price for a complete room. Don't forget for a good result it needs two top coats as well.
Up to that point you were doing quite well. Now you've gone and ruined it by just being a plonker in flame mode. Never mind.
I should keep it on old son if this is how you are going today. No I have no intention of indulging in a long exchange of posts going into minutae either on this one.
Cheers
Having a bad day by any chance;)
Bottom line;
This is a money saving site, my advice is to that effect.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Actually yes and I'm in no mood whatsoever for point scoring games I am afraid.cyclonebri1 wrote: »Having a bad day by any chance;)
Bottom line. There is no money saving point whatsoever in scrimping on element a) of a job if it means that b), c) and d) cost a lot more than if a had been done properly (but perhaps a little more expensively) in the first instance. I know that the spread I use will give me a dead flat wall for tiling or hanging cabs on every time even if he does cost £ 400 a pop. Spending £ 150 on the plastering for the tiling etc to take an additional two days because its neither flat nor particularly good is totally nugatory in the greater scheme of things. Thats money saving to me. Money saving is not always about what is (or seems to be) cheapest at the time. My advice is to that effect.Bottom line; This is a money saving site, my advice is to that effect.
You are entitled to your opinion and to express it too. I am entitled to mine and to express it too. I grow a little sick and tired of infantile sniping on this board - southern softies and gold plated streets or whatever it was for example. Disagreement is one thing . That is entirely another.
Look how that guy who posted just to introduce himself this morning has been treated? Sometimes its quite pathetic.

Calm down dear, It's only a forum.
On a serious note, I've conversed with you and had a laugh and an exchange of views without it becoming personnel.
Today you seem different and somewhat stressed, be careful.
Meanwhile the fact that it is cheaper up North is a fact, also it's a fact that in London and the south house prices have risen over the last 4 years, up here we are still about 20% down on 2007/8, that's the driver.
Look, no one has torched the OP, but you have called me a plonker and Leif an idiot, go figure. I had you for better than this.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Yes you are right and yes we have and I hope we can continue to do so. Yes I am stressed and for all sorts of reasons I'd rather not go into here. Not being evasive its just personal and private thats all.cyclonebri1 wrote: »Calm down dear, It's only a forum....... etc
I've amended the posts to remove what may have been construed to be offensive rather than an observation (which they were) on the post I was commenting on. I was wrong and I am sorry.

It;s always an option for anyone on a budget or even simply not wanting to fill the landfill with perfectly good cabinets. :T:TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I am a property developer and get all my kitchens from Benchmarx. They are part of Travis Perkins so have really good prices and a wide range of appliances and have in my opinion the best quality carcases on the market - no flimsy hardboard back panel like some places, theirs are 15mm back panels and are rigid carcases which not only means I don't have to make up the flat packs but it also means the entire carcase is stronger as a result. Their prices are very good and the branch at Dagenham which I use most is very attentive to my needs and always deliver on time without fail. Very rarely are any parts missing either which means my fit isn't delayed while I wait on them. They are TRADE ONLY however so you will need to introduce your builder or kitchen fitter to them so they can put it through his trade account.
I notice you also need a bathroom now - try City Plumbing which is next door to the Benchmarx in Dagenham, they are also part of Travis Perkins. Good prices, good service and I've never had a problem with them :j0
