Vodafone novice - silly problems!

Just taken out a Coolnewmobile cashback deal on Vodafone. Chose Vodafone by trying sims from every provider because it gave the best reception at home. (Orange dreadful).

First problem - did not realise I wouldn't be able to port my number until I tried to do it.
Second problem - just registered with V Online so could check bill, etc and now received email saying I won't get paper bills. Presumably these can be reinstated - assume that I'll pay £1.50 for the privilege!

Aargh! The perils of changing to an unfamiliar network. Beginning to wish I'd chosen differently and wondering whether to cancel.

the trouble with buying from a 'dealer' is just that ! they are a dealer and they are selling you the deal that will get them the best commission - you have not brought from vodafone you have brought from someone who sells all the networks, and do not always have the customers best interest at heart, only the size of the bonus ! but, hay, they have to make a living and this is how they do it ! - all networks work differently and vodafone does not, and never has, sold temporary numbers, dealers all know this however they will set up a contract with a new number under the promise that you 'can port your old number in at a later date' if they dont say this they run the risk of you leaving the store with the commission ! when the customer comes back to the store in good faith with the PAC code they run the risk of huge problems as if the 14 day return period is up they will not be able to cancel the new number that was set up and when the dealer tries to cancel, it is vodafone that get the bad press, not the dealer when all along the dealers knows what they are doing and as the customer already has the account set up they are unlikely to cancel it ?- the best option, even if it takes longer, is to either visit all the main networks retail stores or make a call direct and NOT use a dealer, find the best deal and go with that or check out the forums on this site, all the main networks have websites so also have a look ?
    good luck

I can access my bills online and still get paper copies too (wish they wouldn't!). The don't charge to send a paper bill, they only charge for paper itemised billing.

PNE fan - if you give them a call they can reinstate your paper bills free of charge, like tripled said, they will charge you if you want it itemised but instead of doing that you can see the itemisation for nothing online.

Tripled - if you call them free on 191 they can stop those paper bills coming through to you

    HTH ;)
