Budget Honeymoon

Hi,

We are looking to go on honeymoon but on a budget as well as OH having allergies we rather make our own food. We don’t mind living of pot noodles etc.

I wanted to surprise her with Maldives or alike but no idea where to find place we can book.

Any recommendation or advice?

You'll struggle to do the maldives on a low cost basis. What exactly is your budget as you can pay anything you like for a honeymoon. Also what time you year and how long you'd want to stay would be handy.

We're currently looking for a honeymoon in December so anything warm will be long haul meaning expensive it seems.
  • You'd have a very hard time finding anything I'd consider budget in the Maldives, and self cook would be tough to find too.

Could you rent a cottage (pretty easy to do, lots of websites available with lots of range in terms of price) on the Kenyan coast, Lamu or Zanzibar? Much cheaper, absolutely stunning beaches / snorkeling and easier to do on a budget. You could self cook pretty easily, with amazing fresh seafood available.

Easy to do the Maldives on a budget. You'll just need a very big budget.

Is it just me that thinks this is a wind up. OP wants to do a honeymoon on a budget and wouldn't mind living off pot noodles but gives the Maldives as an idea of destination!!!!
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

I don't see your point here? In fact, if you live with allergies often you have very little choice about what you eat and sometimes you have to make do with things other people would turn their noses up at.

I think that most people do see the point of this quite sensible comment, but it has clearly gone - WHOOOOOOOSH!;)

I think the point they are making is very obvious from this!

I think what the OP means is she has allergies and therefore cant risk eating in the hotel/restaurants as they wont know how the food has been prepared as it may contain whatever ingredient it is they are allergic to.

As a vegetarian I also restrict my diet when on holiday as I dont know what is in the food especially when menus are not in english. When at home I can prepare things exactly how I want but dont have this luxury on holiday. This would be even more imperitive if it was a life threatening allergy! Doesnt mean they dont eat healthy at home.

I think people should get of thier high horses to be honest it hasnt even got anything to do with the original question.
