Check the paper work for mention of the actual price.
In absence of this, looks like you got a discount to me.

It is money saving.... just saved op about £100 when they take it to small claims (if the contract states the higher amount)

And you do? The OP already stated the car was £4,795.

You hear that little voice in you head saying that you underpaid and should pay the agreed amount? That's your conscience.

    Pay the money.

If the salesperson had input £5795 and in principal owed you the difference, would you be content to accept that the oversight would cost you £1k, I doubt it.

I agree with earlier posters, you must know what price you agreed to pay.

If all the paperwork you have says £3795, then thats the price agreed and the contract is concluded. No different from if you buy something in a supermarket and the price at the checkout is lower than on the shelf.

On the other hand, if before the sale they provided paperwork saying £4795, eg on a pre-sales agreement, then you still owe the other £1000.

I have bolded the absolute critical part of this post.

It is exactly what was agreed prior to discussing how you would pay. What was the price agreed, whether it via pre-sales quote, discussion etc.

It's a money saving site, not a site intended to encourage theft; OP knew the price should have been £1K more then the price on the chip-and-pin machine but kept schtum. he would have spoken up had they keyed in £1K more;)
OP (presumably) agreed to pay a certain price then failed to pay that amount.

    Or is a troll.

I'd be more inclined to say you were the troll.

How is the op a thief? And how is this in any way theft?
