I'm failing miserably at Feb's GC, but am determined to keep trying, so please can I go down for £400 again for March? Our income will be down by about a third by the end of March, so I need to get a grip again. Feel like I've said that before, but it's crunch time now, so will try harder!

Thanks to the admins on the thread! :)

    A xo

Welcome K9+ it's lovely to have you with us! A big welcome to the other newbies too!! :D

Like Craigy said if you go to the top and press on user cp, when that opens you'll see on the left hand side a big bar of options. Edit your signature is about half way down. Click on that and then write away. ;)

Hi Mossy glad to be part of the gang, i've decided to start from tomorrow so i have just edited my blurb; but will sort out the whole thing once i've sussed the sig. I've decided not to set an amount weekly, but to do it mentally as each week will be slightly different; so don't want to set myself up for a fall!

  • Hi I'm a lurker since Christmas and have followed the Feb GC challenge. i kept all my reciepts etc. and now have a budget.
I'm going for 150 for the month.

this is for me and my OH and my daughter who's 4.
I'm based in Ireland so this is in Euros.
However I would like to say that my OH gets his dinner at work everyday and will not be budged on this. he goes to a pub 5 days a week with all his pals and he has a big meat and veg dinner. (I'm working on him and as his cholesterol is 6.2 I'm going to leverage off this)
My daughter gets her dinner in creche every day so i'm not too worried if she only has some pasta with grated cheese or an egg for tea.
I batch cook at weekends and bring curries/stews etc for lunch to work. i work in the middle of nowhere so spending not really a temptation.

So in the evening we just have soup or eggs or other types of nursery teas

But I just was buying, buying, buying. I have enough tinned tomatoes to last my lifetime. :mad:I love supermarkets and often when I need to get out of the house when my little un is goen to sleep and my OH is watching some documentary or other I go for a browse around Mr.T. I could easily spend €100 in nothingness.
So since christmas I've been living out of my freezer and trying to make use of the many kilos of lentils and other pulses I have.

    So that's me and here I go . . .

I hope my number comes up red

I'm new to MSE too. Could anyone point me to anywhere that talks about saving car fuel too???? I'm trying to cut down my consumption. maybe it's just common sense.

Since lurking here I've learned I can freeze cheese, milk and cooked meats so thank you :T

  • Hello Everyone

My day off today so been to do weekly shop. So first spend of £36.95 at Mr Ald*. Pleased, but I am well-stocked at the beginning of the month in anticipation of Grocery Challenge ;) (aim to be equally well stocked at end of this challenge month so that it's a fair result).

I've updated my signature. It really focuses the mind when you're shopping, this challenge :).

Signature updated. Thanks all, have a good day.

    Keep Smiling :)

In preparation for payday, I have gone through all the receipts I can find and my February spend was £450!!!!!!!!!! I budgeted £300!!!!!!!

Have food left, some in freezer too, so will now revisit my sainsbug order for tomorrow and compare the supersix offers and try to reduce it.

I've pretty much been shopping every day when I'm at work. It's time I put an end to that habit right now!,

Thursday will be my aldi or lidl shopping day from now on, and I will attempt to take lunches and step away from the express, metro, local coop stores!
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • Okay im going to set my self a budget of £30/week, probably a bit on the high side but need to start somewhere.

im also going to spend the afternoon checking what food i still have in fridge/freezer and try n meal plan round that.

im expecting this to be a very difficult challenge for next couple of months as bf is moving in...... and his diet is worse than mine! although we both like to cook so maybe it will be easier than i think!! he eats so much crap though! :( and ginger by the gallons!!!

oh well one week at a time eh?!!
also not going to start until friday (payday on thurs, finally!)
  • After reading the grocery threads with interest i want to jump in this month and get a handle on my grocery shopping.
My budget for 2 adults, 2 children, 1 cat and 1 dog is £250.00

Been to Aldi & Asda today and spent £21.72 on some top ups and have a resonably well stocked freezer at the moment so shouldnt need too much for the rest of the week....fingers crossed!
