Hi, I need solid legal advice please in dealing with a £100 parking charge notice from Parking Eye. I pulled in at Leicester Forest East Services at 6:42 am on the 10th of Feb and left at 9:17 am after having a wash, a rest & some breakfast & waiting for the weather to clear, a total of 2 hrs 35 minutes. Today I've received a letter from Parking eye quoting Protection of freedom act 2012 & stating you are only allowed 2 hrs parking & signs are all around the car park etc.
So where do I stand? I've read other threads on here saying ignore any correspondence but that person got a court summons plus they never said what the final outcome was, surely as I'm paying to use the facilities & spending monies there, this is at least immoral if not illegal, another money making scheme. So come on people shout up please.

Didn't mean it to sound, well you know, I just meant I didn't want any Bar Room Barrister type answers, see even that sound a bit, you know. I'm actually thankful for any helpful advice, so Thank You.:T0 -

Just IGNORE the scammers.
Not sure of the link but I'm sure it said they'd got some form of Court Summons (maybe a CCJ), the persons name was rafraf03 & it was titled Parking Eye- My story (So far) 27/2/20120 -

And all he got was the usual threat of court. Nothing came of it. It never does with these scammers
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
This is NOT a fine!! You only think it is because it impersonates a parking ticket. For Goodness sake, please wise up about this scam. A letter mentioning Court is NOT a Court summons either - and you WILL get the usual letters just as other posters do.
Like all the other posters on this board, you have a fake PCN, a misleading invoice.
The whole scam of fake PCNs relies firstly on people's ignorance of the fact that a random private company can't fine anyone, and secondly on their natural fear of parking tickets and the escalating costs/bailiff scenario. So PPCs copy the look of a real parking ticket and - hey presto! - the cash rolls in from victims who know no better.
This is not a penalty at all. It's rubbish, there are no bailiffs letters, just debt collector standard template threatograms (all hot air, we can tell you this for certain).
Tick off the threatening letters as you get them, here.

Barrister's opinion on a legal Q&A website here.
Thread about the Protection of Freedoms Act - and parking tickets still being as unenforceable as ever - here.
The letters are actually quite funny when they arrive at the address of someone who knows it's all hogwash and not a real parking ticket at all.
My 18 year old niece has EIGHT fake PCNs so far - almost all from Parking Eye! - and laughs & texts me every time she gets one. She is just a new driver, a teenager, and she knows this is all a con like a series of phishing emails. Boy does she get a lot of junk mail!
I would happily collect more fake PCNs than the 2 that I already have for overstays (more than an hour overstays, both times when shopping at Supermarkets at busy times). Plus I have a nice collection of amusing/alarmist debt collector letters which I carry in my handbag to show friends & colleagues if the subject crops up!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I don't mean to be rude but you really do need to learn to read properly before posting such things as fact !All aboard the Gus Bus !0 -
No need to be so harsh
