I have seen wordings asking if you have ever been disqualified.
Being disqualified is a conviction. ROA act applies.
  • A 3 year ban plus probation sounds like you must have been way over the limit....

For this type of conviction I would not try purchasing over the internet - I would see a specialist broker and go for the lowest group car you can possibly find.

Remember that there will also be other factors taken into account - postcode, other drivers, circumstances of conviction e.g. was there an accident etc.

Why have you got a new licence - did your old one expire or was this a requirement?

I am sure somebody will come along with specialist brokers.

Have a read of the link I provided from the Ombudsman

    Disqualifications

When a driver is disqualified from driving, the rehabilitation period will be the same length as the period of disqualification. It is important to note, however, that if more than one penalty is imposed at once, the rehabilitation period takes the length of the longer sentencing.
For example, a motorist who is prohibited from driving for seven years and is also hit with a fine, which will take five years to become spent, faces a rehabilitation period of seven years, as it is the longer rehabilitation period of the two.
