Hi.
My McAfee is up for renewal and they want £40. I have had a scoot around the net and can get it for £29 odd and perhaps might be able to use Googlecheckout thingy - anyway, I'm rabbiting on now.
My question is - I have found a reputable site doing the boxed version of McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007 for £35 (can use Google CO) but also does an OEM version for £7!! The appear to both be the same item - but obviously a massive difference in price. I understand that OEM software (whatever it is) doesn't come in any box?
A stupid question but is it as simple as spending £7 for the same product?
Thanks for your help...

NO wait! there is a free 1 year out there from NetWest http://uk.mcafee.com/root/landingpages/afflandpage.asp?affid=540&lpname=vsf why pay for it when you can get it for free and legal.0

I'm guessing that the OEM version is a 90 day trial.0

I'd take the opportunity of dumping Macaffe and getting something that performs better.
AVG Antivirus Free performed better in recent tests in Computer Shopper, AVG Antispyware is also free, then all you need is a firewall like Zonealarm if your not happy with the windows one, and don't have a hardware firewall in your router. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Most of them have AVG..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

I used to have McAfee which didn't cost me a penny but I still found it better switching to AVG even though there was no financial incentive. I've found my system runs better and it detected a virus already on my system that McAfee let through. So even though I can use McAfee for free I'd still prefer AVG."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

If there is one thing that turns me off AVG (apart from the interface, which last time I tried it looked amateurish to me), it would be the number of people here with an infection of some sort, and most of them are running AVG already.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

If you are going to pay for an AntiVirus program, I would recommend Kaspersky.0
