5 wifi routers on same channel

I have just set up a new WiFi adapter and downloaded issider to check what channel all the WiFi routers around me are on.
5 of them were on channel 1, including mine, even though it was set on auto.
I have set mine to channel 11 now.
It might be my imagination or because I have a new wireless adapter but the web pages seem to load a lot quicker.

Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:

Where I live all the routers around me are spread across different channels, so finding the best channel isn't an easy task. I haven't experience many issues with my wi-fi though.
It's usually best to override the auto setting and choose a channel yourself!0 -

Download and install inSSIDer onto your laptop, so you can see the relative signal strength of the other routers. If they are all low, it doesn't matter to you what channel(s) they may be broadcasting on, which is probably why your router was quite happy with channel 1...0

Good info, but the OP's first line in their post says they have inssider...
I moved mine to channel 11 but found that my Scroll tablet couldn't then find my wifi.0 -
Just to "borrow" this thread .....
I've just installed Inssider on my Windows 7 PC to check wireless signals around me and it's saying it can't find a wireless adaptor. My PC uses a wired connection but my phone connects wirelessly and I wanted to check if I was on a good channel.
I had assumed (probably wrongly) that I could do this, but either I'm doing something stupid with Inssider or it won't pick up other networks without a wireless card installed.
Anyone any ideas?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

I'm afraid you need a wireless card to use inssider. The only way it can scan for wifi networks is by using a wifi card.
Is your phone an android?, if it is then you can install inssider on that :

That's a shame.
And no, I've got an iPhone 4S.
Do you know if there's an app for that?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Should have expected that
So, can I check what other routers are broadcasting on without a wireless card in my PC?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
