Please help - need a bit of advice

Hi All,
Just bought a car from a local dealership. Paid just under £1,300 for a 2001 car so not like a got something on the cheap or cut any corners considering the age etc.
Had it a week and already I've had to take it back to have a heat shield re-bolted (not too much of a problem) but now I have had passengers complaining of wet bums when travelling it in. Got to looking at it today and passenger floor is soaking wet (we are talking puddles) and seats wet when you apply pressure.
Do I have any rights? I have no reason to believe this isn't a trustworthy dealer but I didn't have any kind of warranty on the car. Is there any 'unspoken' rule where I am covered to return this or have it sorted as I was not made aware of any problems and clearly there is something very wrong.
I'm not too hot on consumer rights and wanted to be prepared when I talk to them.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

You bought it from a dealer, so you have more protetion than if you purchased privately..
Does it have a sunroof?
What is the car?

Do they, you got a link to that law?0 -
Thanks, so I'm covered even though there was no mention of a warranty?

It's part of a consumer rights law I believe.. Local mechanic told me the same thing recently and it is mentioned on the citizens advice website..0 -

Checked their website and says all cars over £2500 come with a 3 month warranty - so I am not eligible due to mine being cheaper? Hardly seems right :-/0

No they dont.
Please stop quoting that all over the place - you are setting an expectation with people that cannot be met and is wrong.
Either go and read up on the SOGA and consumer law before offering advice on it OR please stop posting on threads like this - you are NOT helping the OP by giving them false advice.0 -

No. its not.
It is not law to provide a three month warranty on ANY car.
It is not even law to provide a warranty, however you must warrant the condition of the car, which is a different thing entirely.0 -

You are covered by virtue of the fact the leak has clearly been there since you bought the car - therefore 'by law' it would be deemed to have been present at the time of sale.
But, no, there is no '3 month warranty' in the SOGA.
Contact the dealer and explain whats happening. If he wont play ball ring Citizens Advice for their opinion and a course of action to take.0
