I'm thinking of doing my CBT and getting a 125cc scooter for commuting to work, between 4-6 miles each way.
Any tips or advice regards what to get, insurance etc. (I know to keep away from cheap Chinese imports
) budget £1500-2000ish.

From what I've seen and read they are death traps and come needing some major assembly. Would rather spent more and have something that is going to be reliable and last.0 -
Honda PCX125, great little scoot, plenty of storage space, good mpg and can get above 60 (whoops)0

One of the few sensible things i ever bought. Traffic got to be a nightmare.
Before the new road was officially opened and before speed limit signs were put up i could get to work in under 10 minutes.
Bigs signs saying the road is open and traffic grew quickly. It was then faster to use the old roads.
It got to a point where it was taking 40 - 50 minutes for the same journey. I bought a scooter and no matter how heavy the traffic i got home in 10 minutes again.
Brilliant.. The main issue is do you have secure parking.
They are easily stolen and they do get stolen a lot.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Lol, don't think I can stretch to one of those unfortunately.
Mind you would take me back to my youth, spent a lot of time on the back of my Mod brothers Vespas0 -
£1000 will get a good one!0

To be honest, only really looking at twist and go. Only want it for ease, not the riding experience.0

My wife and I both use scooters to commute. In London, , they pay for themselves after a couple of years, not to mention the massive convenience of them!
Both our scooters are within your budget. I have the Yamaha Vity 125, wife has Peugeot Vivacity 125. They're both great, if I had a gun to my head would just about lean toward the Yamaha.
We got our insurance with Lexham, but I'm guessing postcode randomness may get you a better deal elsewhere.0 -
So long as you avoid the chinese stuff, they're all much of a muchness and down to personal preference really.
I'd say whatever you're planning on getting, do your CBT on a manual bike, it doesn't normally cost any more, but it does make you a better rider.
What sort of roads are you going to be riding on? My knocking about bike only really gets used in 30 limits, so I find a 50cc is fine, but then I don't really weigh much.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0
