Most of the people posting on disability websitesall over the web didnt need an overnight carer until the "bedroom tax" came in, why should they suddenly need one now?0 -

and many more still dont. they just need a suiyable sized property to move into!
they arent being awkward, they just have nowhere to go!
luckily i have downsized because the council reclassified 2 properties to make them available. i harrassed the HA every day until they let me have one of them. the other has a full rent paying couple in, as people were unaware they had been reclassified.0 -
When you can't even get the legislation right the rest of your post can probably be assumed to be nonsense.
If by DDA you are referring to the Disability Discrimination Act, it was repealed in 2010.
And just to enlighten you further, the 660 000 number, is the total people affected by the bedroom tax. Of those around 77% are in receipt of DLA, and I can assure you, you wouldn't get DLA for a stutter.
Perhaps you should educate yourself a little further before posting nonsense?
You could start here.
Most people dont know what the Equality Act is, where as most people do know what the DDA is so that acronim is still in common usage and I wasnt the first person to use it in relation to this subject.
Most people who get DLA dont need an overnight carer, those misleading figures you and others repeatedly roll out cover people who get LRC because of the meals test for example, no reasonably minded person would claim that they need a overnight carer would they? Yet people like you are, and what about all those who get MRC for daytime help only? All of a sudden they all need overnight carers too. Then there are the people who get the mobility componant only, they all need an overnight carer too now?
No one takes your arguments seriously because you cannot get the figures right, only people who get HRC or MRC for overnight care only can have a legitimate argument for exemption for a overnight carer IF you base it on YOUR own arguments! And to be fair thay would need to prove that they had a over night carer pre April '13 and no doubt most of them couldnt prove it.
You cant claim to base exemption from the "bedroom tax" on DLA awards unless you apply the above argument, nor can you base it on self determination of disabilities under the Equality Act as that includes people with stutters etc.
I have a lot more sympathy for people in adapted properties where no smaller properties exist or who need to store very bulky medical equiptment or need an extra room as a treatment room as they did not suddenly decide that they have medical needs at the begining of April this year, they should be exempt from the "bedroom tax" benefit reduction as should people who can PROVE that there are no suitable properties available to downsize too and by that I certainly dont mean just whineing about it but who can prove that they have taken steps to find a more suitably sized property.0 -
The fact that this vile coalition government announced last Tuesday that it would increase the emergency funds available for those affected by increased housing costs by £35m shows they've c0cked it up and are running scared.
These funds are only a sticking plaster to try to stem the haemorrhage of an amputation.
Given that the bedroom tax is supposed to save money an extra £35million shows that it isn't saving money as that £35 million has had to come from elsewhere to prop up this nasty social cleansing tory lead policy.0
