Well aren't you helpful! Thanks for giving me some constructive advice, I didn't come on here to hear something I already knew I came on to see if anyone had any proper advice for me. I know I have messed up by not taking his name off the tenancy agreement, I have come on here for advice!
I have tried to give my son everything I can as I have been left on my own. I am looking for a job so that I can afford to move and not have his name of the tenancy agreement, this I have been doing for a while as it is hard to find somewhere that will accept DSS and someone who cannot provide a gaurantor!0 -

If not PROVE it. Work out what proof you have and submit.
Eg - in the last months I have been getting British gas letters for someone who doesn't live here. RTS didn't work so I rang them, got a letter stating my enquiry, that they will investigate and apologies.
Why did you never ring?
What is the address held on file for your son?
Make no mistake you have more evidence against you than in favour, so start looking at what evidence you have.
Do you use Facebook? Status updates, being single, dates with others etc.
Any letters that have come have been just normal letters, the only other ones were HMRC and I called them and told them he is not living here, so they know that already!
I don't use facebook, or any other site like that.
What kind of evidence do you mean? Thank you for the reply0 -
sorry when I say normal letters I mean they had no company on the front otherwise I would have rang them like you said0

ypur local council should have a list of landlords that accept people on housing benefit.
spme also have schemes that help with a bond and advance rent.
you really havent tried to sort anything out though. youve only now realised that this should have been sorted as soon as your ex moved out, abd its only now that HMRC want to find out whats going on that youre doing what you should have done all along.
i dont want to seem unsympathertic, but its difficult when you really havent helped yourself0 -
I don't need your sympathy, I just wanted someone to advice me on what to do.
When i went to the council they told me that I have to find somewhere myself to live, they know that he is on the tenancy agreement but they had no issues with it! They said that if I wanted to go into one of those helptolet agreements that I would have to go into a hostel first, this I am not doing.
I am not only doing those things as I have realised the HMRC want to know XYZ, I am have been trying to sort these things out for a while, trying to save money for a deposit, which is hard when I am in thousands of pounds debt. Yes I am aware that I got myself into this debt!0 -

Ok mobile phone bill, amazon/eBay orders to his address. You need to talk - what evidence he has you are not aware of, he will have.
My hubby works away. I know what things he has delivered to work address (as married so I pay bills). You need to ask him, as you don't have knowledge.
Do you have a child? Think of who you inform NOK and addresses.0 -
I will speak to him, thanks.
At his nursery my mum is his emergency contact.
Someone said earlier his mum could write a letter, do you think that may be worth asking?0 -

Not Really - she would lie (sorry being truthful) who is down as NOK via college?
There is lots of evidence, you just need him to tell you.
Any letters open and ring them in meantime.0 -
I don't have a next of Kin at college... (Am I meant to?)
I have told all the utility companies that he no longer lives here otherwise I have no idea what these other letters are and I dont want to open them!
I guess I won't know what to do until I call them on Monday!0 -
The key thing is share finances. You need to show that you pay ALL bills yourself. So start picking up your bank statements and showing that all that comes in comes out. In a way, the fact that he doesn't pay maintenance makes this exercise easier. Show that you pay the full amount of rent on your own, same as nursery, show food bills weekly and that you would struggle to feed two grown adults and a child on that amount. Show that the costs of days out/holidays were for one child and one adult, not two adults and a child. Show that you have no regular amount coming in from him that could be perceived as help towards bills/rent.
Get statements from school, neighbours, college tutors, anyone you've spoken to professionally who can confirm you have referred to yourself as a single mum.0
