Hi has anyone tried to sow a camomile lawn .In France where my brother lives they seem to be popular as they smell divine when you walk on them and need less mowing than ordinary grass.I am having half of my garden lawn laid to patio as I find it increasingly difficult to use the mower very much I have mobility problems with arthrits and find it difficult to bend much I will be left with a square about 12x14 of grass and thought that a cmomile lawn maybe the answer as it only needs mowing about every six weeks or so as its very slow growing .Has anyone here tried it or are there pit falls that I don't know about

I have just surfed the 'net' and found that Chamomile Turf is about £49.00 a square metre,so I now have to weigh up whether it's worth buying it, or just paying someone to cut my lawn for me twice a month0

I think you can buy the seeds and grow it yourself? Try thompson and Morgan or suttons seeds? It is a bit slow growing, but maybe the wait would be worth it, and you coudl say it was all your own work! I thought about it at one point, but never got round to it!Half the Interest with Boo : Barclaycard £4765.64 May 20070

Having read a bit about it I may try to do a small bit at a time with some seeds or plugs if I can get hold of them. Trouble is if there is any weeds or couch grass it tends apparently to choke the life out of the chamomile Still I can give it a go and see what happens .Thats the worst of getting old, the garden no longer becomes a pleasure that it once was0 -
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

Having read the book
a chamomile lawn was something I would love too, but, having really heavy "soil" it would involve a lot of work (not something I'm too fond of) and it seems that even then there's no guarantee of success.
A friend is someone who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden.0 -

That sounds lovely if you do go ahead with it then keep us updated
My mam has a Thyme lawn, no mowing ever, and its lovely and bouncy to walk on,
Its made up from quite a few different types and some take over more than others
It took about 3 years before it was completely covered0 -
On Tv earlier this evening, 'Grow your own drugs' Bbc 2, he made a chamomile seat out of turf like squares. He said about how difficult it is to grow 'cos of weeds.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
