I wanna an Iphone insurance and cover

Options
Hi,
Not sure if posting in the correct place but so biting please.
I have just bought the Iphone 5 on contract with 3 but 3 do not offer any insurance services therefore I was wondering if any kind MSErs could suggest some insurers in the event of the phone being lost/stolen/damaged and what not :P
ON that note I am also looking for a protective cover for the phone as I am a regular clumsy phone dropper.
All suggestions appreciated.

TIA

i'd investigate with your bank account to see if you can get add ons for mobile phone insurance. Quite a lot of banks are doing it now. I have a gadget/phone with barclays, on an old add on, but they offer now just mobile phone add on which is a little cheaper.

Use a sim card lock, and use a phone lock, this means people can't just get straight into your phone if they nick it, and also they can't use your sim in someone elses (thus giving you a massive bill)
Report it to police as soon as you realise it's stolen, and ask 3 to block the handset, and the sim card, as until you do this you will be liable for the calls. Some phone insurances will cover the inbetween time, with in reason, providing you've done the police and 3 blocking.

Most of the insurances out there for phones tend to be worthless as (so heard/googled) when a problem comes, and if the water sensor has been activated they will say water damage not covered, so check and check again all Terms and Conditions.

http://uk.protectyourbubble.com/ip-iphone-insurance.html is one that at least covers liquid damage (check their specific terms and conditions though) however never used them, etc, and frankly the cost for an iphone is just under what I pay monthly and have cover on gadgets (ipads, computer, camera) and mobile phone, so not overly cheap imo.
  • Thank you LIFEFORMS,
That was informative. I wasn't aware banks offer these services.I will also look into protectyourbubble.

  • I would definitely recommend protectyourbubble over the insurance that your phone shops try to sell you when you get a contract!

Check your house insurance policy, most will allow you to have specified or unspecified valuables (you may need to specify the phone as a valuable, depends on the policy) , you may already have it in place.

As above, definitely start with your existing contents insurance, to avoid buying something you may already have, or can add on very cheaply.
