Plenty to go wrong with these turds, so if the seller is serious and not hiding anything, I can't see the issues with a laptop being plugged in to read the codes.
These will have the swirl flap dramas too won't they with it being an Auto or do all the E60's have the swirl flaps? I know the manual E39's didn't.
I love BMW's, but I certainly prefer the relative simplicity of the earlier stuff.0 -

And what exactly qualifies you to describe these cars as turds?
No doubt because you've some ancient e34 that you cant afford to change but are sniffy about modern BMWs because 'they're not real mens cars', or some other excuse.
The e60 is a GOOD car. Yes, it has a level of mechanical complexity not seen in older cars, but thats the case with ANY modern car.
If anyone wants a proper review, refer to Honest John - or pretty much ANY motoring mag or journalist. It gets 4 Stars out of 5.

All cars are turds, no specific venom was aimed at the E60.
They have aged very well indeed. I am more smitten for the older stuff though and a nice E34 525 manual sport makes an excellent daily which can be worked on at home, parts are plentiful and cheap, build quality from an era when BMW were at the top of their game compared to other manufacturers.
I run an E46 touring as my daily though0 -
Just what is motorway miles by the way?
Airport Transfers?
Plod car?
Repmobile that has sat in lane 3 up the back end of the car in front?0 -
I would have no issues with someone wanting to plug a code reader into my car if i were selling.
I can see this becoming fairly common as cars get more and more sensors on them.
I have a collection of code readers already.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
And Colino is the winner ... driveway dealer all the way.
Drove past the driveway and the nice shiny car was an 05 plate not an 06 - time to abandon ship. Which makes it a 2005 not 2006 so a pack of lies told b4 even getting into the main body of the advert.
Thanks for replies all.0 -

It was fairly obvious he was a driveway trader up front, so i didnt consider it worth commenting. Not necessarily a reason not to buy though.
BUT as you say, if they are bluffing the age of the car to get people out, what else might they lie about.
You did the right thing. Theres no world shortage of them.0 -

And for anyone that didn't notice, Honest John also has a 'what's bad' page, here's the link (get a nice cup of tea and make yourself comfortable)

Isn't the 525d E60 a bit weird with regards engines? Came as both a 2.5 and 3.0 depending on age?0
