Has anyone ever heard of this (JSA issue)

I applied for JSA online on 31/1, had initial interview on 6/2 and 1st proper sign on yest 15/2
when my advisor went to check if my claim has been built it came up 'no claim made, NINO usd for ex partner' ( or similar)
my advisor had no idea what that meant, and i couldnt get through on the phone to speak to anyone yesterday to see whats happening, does anyone have any ideas? thanks

Did you use your OH's address for your claim?

Since it is saying that no claim has been made might it be National Insurance number used for ex partner?

Did you use the wrong NI number?

Sorry, can't think of anything else!!!!!!!!!

If you havent claimed before could it possibly be that your partner has included you in a claim that is still live or was not closed down?

You can get through on the phone if you call at 8.00am.

  • I'm not sure, but NINO is National Insurance Number, I cant see how your NINO could have been used by your ex though, if everyone has their own unique number. With HMRC, DSS, ect every person is identified and filed by their NINO...rather than name/address as NINO is the one unique thing, whereas loads others may have same name, same address ect.

When you told them your address it would have flagged up to them anyone at that address who is currently claiming anything from DSS, you submitting a claim at that address would mean all their benefits would need to be re-assessed too. Even if you are entitled to .....benefit, any benefits that ppl in the household claim will be effected, if that makes sense.

  • That'll be it then. Nothing to worry about!?

I cant see it effecting your claim, it was more to flag up to them, rather than something being wrong.

Glad to hear the compliance interview went ok.

One of the safeguards in the system is that a NINO cannot be on more than one live claim. So if your number is (still) on his, your claim cannot be processed by computer. (as Banana said)

While it's a safeguard, it's also a nuisance when a couple separates and the innocent party is inconvenienced at least.

If it's a problem and you can't wait, they can pay you clerically, or whatever term they use currently.

For a claim without any problems its currently taking 14 working days from start of the claim to payment so you may have a few days yet to wait . Is there a reason why your first 'proper' sign on wasnt until yesterday ? Seems an overly long time between initial interview and signing.

You may be able to have an interim payment if you ask though.
