Where did you get the 40% from? Did you measure them yourself? Sounds like some may be over 40%, so you might have some luck there.....The price sounds very high, especially if they're wet....

Yes, I measured them myself at 40%. I measured many of them any they all show about 40%. They have been seasoned as advertised as far as I can tell. But it seems they've been out in the pouring rain prior to delivery so they are soaking wet. They are are also filthy. Not ideal to have to wash your hands every time you put a log on the fire!

My guess, given that they're wet and dirty, is that they were from the bottom of the pile. Many decent sellers will have sold out of good stuff by this time of year - that's just the way it is with logs. You'd be much better buying in summer and having enough to get through the winter. Or switch to briquettes - then you know exactly what you'll be getting at any time of year, and they'll always be a fraction of the moisture of even kiln dried logs.

If the £120/m3 included nationwide delivery, then they're not that expensive - sending them will have cost £50 - £60 alone. You're not alone though - a lot of disappointed log buyers around this year...

Our last delivery were wet due to just being out in bad weather during delivery and that was just a couple of miles on an open van then time taken to put away. If you are having delivery from a distance it stands to reason they could easily get wet for reasons outside of control of the supplier. I agree with (and will heed the advice of) previous posters - get as much as possible delivered in the Summer months!

I don't burn logs all year but I buy what I do burn the summer before

Mostly cos here its forestry logs , wet pines, so buy in the summer, great for the spring better for the following autumn

If you're canny, you can get a better price in the summer, too. Pick a hot day when only a madman would be buying logs!

Hmmm...

From experience there are almost no firewood logs for sale in spring/summer/autum as all my locals are building and preping their stock for the winter months to supply their regular customers. Indeed they often have other jobs during these months.

I get perfectly seasoned wood/bone dry firewood @ £70 for a proper cubic meter in a vented bag delivered on a pallet into my garage. Nice and tidy.

Soaking wet wood at that price is lunacy.

Lots of the "proper" firewood guys are thinking that £100/cube should be a base price nowadays. If you're buying in cord, paying for haulage, processing, storage space and then final delivery, there's very little margin left to be playing with!

Quick question - How did you pay? If by PayPal you could start a dispute. I know that won't help your current wood situation but might make you feel better and ensure that the venor is accurately advertising their product in future.
