    I have two spades.

One was used by my ex's grandmother to dig for victory. The other is a newish, stainless steel one.

One of them is half-split along the length of the blade. Based on the above, I think you've probably guessed it isn't Nana's....car boot sales, maybe?

I've said this before here - find a shop that sells old tools and buy something (ideally made in England) over 30 years ago.

Bulldog may be the only acceptable modern alternative but the ones I tried all had poorly finishes handles, so I ended-up paying less for a superb spade and fork made decades ago and still in beautiful condition.

All the 2nd hand shops around me have gone over the years. I dont know of any that are left.

Been to a council recycling centre and they wont sell you the garden tools either, Seems they have something in place.
I was reading the label on the box they store them in, Said tools not for sale. Then the guy there got a bee in his bonnet and starting moaning saying tools are not for sale.
I was reading the sign. I wasnt trying to prise the lock off the box.

I saw a bulldog fork in the B&Q sale bin the other day marked down from £29 to £10 it may have been a boarder fork I'm not sure, it was quite heavy but for £10 a bargain all the same. It may be a long shot but take a trip to your local B&Q they may be discounting them country wide!
