Need a sturdy garden fork and spade

In a word: Bulldog.
Otherwise, visit a specialist secondhand & vintage tool seller to see if they have a model like my fork, which has metal reinforcing all the way down the handle front and back. It's also a Bulldog, but no telling how old.
Sadly, they really don't seem to make 'em like that any more.0 -
Wilkinsons Sword garden tools are very good they have 10 year guarantee.
If you want an all metal (so you can't break it at all) Draper do a really heavy duty contractors fork/ spade.0 -
I also say Bulldog. Expensive initially but works out cheaper in long run.0

Good value........my forks always get mis-shapen after a year or two, so end up having loads of spades and no forks.
But for this price, the fork has done me well for 18 months now,and I'm on hard clay.0 -
I also need a new fork but only because i want one for home and one for the lotty! I begrudge spending on my gardening though as i grow the veg to try to save money so i recommend looking around a car boot or similar. I'm off to one tomorrow so fingers crossed.0

I bought a fairly expensive one from B&Q, Stainless with a wooden handle and a lifetime warranty.
It lasted under 3 months before it broke, Wooden shaft snapped.
Older is better it seems.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I have got a Bulldog spade and fork had them nearly 20 years bought in Focus and they were not the most expensive ones. Looks good as new and when we had our garden landscaped last year the chaps kept using mine rather than their own. I do like the Wolf range with interchangeable head for hoes and rakes (I grow my veg in small paces) but their hand fork last two mins in my clay soil.Save £12k in 25 No 49

I snapped the wooden shaft on a spade, and the wooden shaft on a fork is splitting. I have a Bulldog fork, it seems very good, ugly though. I have a spade with a metal shaft, seems good.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
