...although they will be staying in the middle of the hull somewhere below water level next to the engine room!
They upgrade everyone else outwards and upwards first.
No ships have cabins below the waterline.
Anyone with an ounce of cruisng knowledge new the vantage fares were a marketing ploy to boost bookings and the usual last minute discounting under getaway fares would continue.
Travel agents don't care and continue to peddle the book now cabins are running out, it the cheapest it will get and there is the price promise etc.
inside cabins on P&O necer pay more than £50pppd unless it is definately a cruise that sells out early.0 -

How are either of these bits relevant?
Don't forget to tell your travel insurance company about your 'serious health issues' by the way.
In answer to your overly-long post, NO, there is nothing you can do. Go and enjoy your holiday.
I wrote asking for genuine help but it appears not to be found here, so please dont make fun if someone has made a mistake.
My fare was P & O,s Vantage fare with a price promise , NOT a Getaway fare.
And yes I did declare all my serious health issues and had to pay over £300!0 -

You sound as though you're in serious risk of ruining your holiday here, I think you need to go away and enjoy your cruise, forget about this issue for now.
If you still feel the same after the cruise go in with all guns blazing and see what you can or can't get from them but please don't let it consume your opinion or enjoyment of your holiday.0 -

I don't think there is any disagreement over this
What the price promise states is that the price promise does not apply if the new/current fare that you are trying to match to is a Getaway Fare - I don't believe they are saying you cannot use the price promise because your current fare is a getaway fare
Is the fare you are trying to match to a Getaway fare on the P&O site as per the earlier link?0 -

you said in the first post
We booked tickets that cost us £2998 and yesterday we saw various cruise agents advertising the same grade of cabin on the same C deck for £ 1000 less. They did not advertise them as getaway prices!!!
I have spoken to my travel agent who had spoken to the P & O company at 10.30am this morning and they said, there was nothing they could do as the prices now advertised were classed as getaway fare.
You bought a discount price promise Vantage fare,
The new fare is a getaway fare, they are outside the price promise.
If the travel agents misled that off then you have a problem with them not P&O.
What was on P&O web site the time you saw the deal on a TA site, if that had a reduced vantage fare then you need to get evidence of that to make the price promise claim.0 -
Check your cruise again today there are some more reduced fares on offer yours might have a reduced vantage fare0

I'm not sure anyone on here is making fun of you but you're in danger of making a fool of yourself.
You were prepared to pay the initial agreed price for the cruise. The reduced price clearly doesn't come within the terms and conditions of your agreement.
This is one of those occasions where you're simply going to have to suck it up.
That's life,I'm afraid.0 -

I suspect you are getting "hung-up" on the names getaway/vantage.
However the critical difference is normally in the cabin selection - I would expect that on your fare YOU chose the cabin you were in, but on the new cheap fares all you can choose is the grade and THEY (P&O) get to choose the cabin, and they will make their choice near to the last minute. So if the advertised price is just for a cabin grade - then it IS classed as a getaway fare whether or not 'getaway' is mentioned in the advert.
This is a standard cruise line distinction, giving them an excuse to offer lower prices to fill up cruises. The normal crusing rule of thumb is if you want a specific cabin you have to book early and pay the 'full' price, but if you don't care about which cabin, then leave it until the late price drops and then book (but you have to accept that, if it is a popular cruise the price drops may never happen).0
