Whatever you do, DON'T get B&Q to fit. I made this mistake and ended up with 9 months of living hell and having to move my family out of my home for a number of weeks.

With one excuse after another with fitters (sub contractors) that really did not have a clue and management that were no better.

Bits missing, bits that did not fit, follow up after follow up still they did not get it right.

I ended up after all this time getting a 3rd party in to sort it out and getting £2500 back from B&Q.

For your own sanity, please go somewhere, ANYWHERE, else

    Cant echo these sentiments enough!

We ordered a kitchen (B&Q Select - around 15k worth) in January last year. They finally finished installing in November. 11 Months to install. It took them 4 months to deliver. The fitters then got 80% through, and walked off site because B&Q owed them over 100k!

There were parts missing, and the sales man even forgot to order handles!!!!

We took a B&Q card for 0% for 6 months - which lapsed before they even finished the kitchen - and despite us telling GE who underwrite the card they werent getting a penny until the kitchen was complete - we had about 5 months of hell going in circles and endless calls with B&Q and GE.

The Granite worktops were fractured, the cooker hood was scratched. It was the most unbelievable fiasco I have ever experienced. We thought our builders were bad! B&Q didn't know their rear end from their elbow. They would say they would call back, and they wouldn't, they would make promises and fail to keep them, etc.

We certainly would never order a kitchen or bathroom from B&Q, and strongly urge anyone who wants to keep their sanity to do the same!

For a large national company - it shows how badly you can run your company, and still stay afloat!
To Stooze or Not To Stooze - Theres only one option :D

hi has anyone ordered a band q select kitchen and if so what are their thoughts on them thanks)

I ordered mine about a month ago, still waiting for confirmation of installation date. They telephoned me Monday afternoon to say it was being delivered on the Wednesday (this was too short notice to have time of work, there had been no mention of this when I spoke to them the same Monday in the morning or any other time I had telephoned them), they reassured me that it would not be delivered, but guess what they delivered it and left the whole lot in the middle of my drive way whilst I was not in, this included the cooker, dishwasher etc. They wanted me to put it in a garage until the installation date was confirmed but this could be upto a month. I telephoned them to remove it from the drive if not it would be sent by courier and delivered back to the store and left in the middle of their carpark. They picked it up at 7.15am the next day. I am getting to the point where the order is going to be cancelled. Would not recommend B&Q. I am paying 10k for an absoulte nighmare that is not even installed yet.
    Nice to save.

god that sounds terrible there seems more reasons not to buy from B and Q than ever after hearing some of your stories and at ten grand you would expect some service, me thinks i will be using howdens or ikea.
Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)

Look out for special offers in B & Q. (we got 60% off). It`s a solid oak kitchen and we added a granite worktop, granite plinths(cheapest available) and posh taps (e bay)
No complaints about quality of units. When the estate agent came round she said "I can see this isn`t a B&Q kitchen. Enough said ??

please state how much u paid with the 60% off,. as all these top firms have high pricing for their units,. even when they take the % off its still giving them a wacking profit line,. all depends how big ur kitchen is to,.

AND i should of pointed out ,.. i dont install B&Q kitchens (and bathrooms) anymore,.

Pricy147 totally agree with your post,. i dont know anyone thats waited 4 months,. thats the longest ive heard of,. YET
