What is best for bathroom floor - vinyl, tiles, laminate?

Have always installed vinyl in our bathrooms. Not as warm as carpet but warmer than tiles (without underfloor heating) - but vinyl warms up quickly when the heating is on. So easy to clean, and so much cheaper than tiles

If installing vinyl on top of floorboards, lay plywood sheets first to get a level finish

Moved into a house that had carpet - a total no no IMO (hate to think what had been splashed about in it)! Have totally redone everything in the bathroom including travertine floor tiles. Absolutely great - easy to clean, and despite the views of other posters, not cold at all. Have 1 X radiator in bathroom plus 1 X towel heater (no underfloor heating) seems toasty enough to me. Btw, bathroom is 2.6m X 3.6m. No slippy issues either :-)

Thought I had better add, if doing tiles make sure the prep is done properly else it will come back to bite your butt :-0

I put down cheap vinyl tiles from B&Q and they look fine. I laid some hardboard stuff down first to even up the floor, the only mistake I made was not making sure all the pins were hammered in below the surface - one is very slightly proud and it shows through the tile (hasn't gone through it).

I used the cheapie tiles because they were thinner than the expensive ones and easier to cut, also I wasn't worried about wasting a couple.

My mum has Flotex and it's fine - easily wipeable. If you want carpet and can definitely keep it clean (i.e. no "toilet" splashes or spray,) then have it.

We have tiles. They aren't cold. Definitely the best choice.

I had Amtico in the bathroom for years and loved it, but last year got a new shiny black and white bathroom fitted and OH fitted a sparkling glittery black non slip vinyl, was easy enough for him as a loorlayer to know what he wanted and he designed the bathroom!

I would always recommend a Karndean floor, but I am biased as I sell it. When I say Karndean I do mean Karndean or Amtico or similar, but the practicalities of it are great.

It's not quite as cold as real stone, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's anywhere near as warm as a carpet, but what you do get is immense practicality.

Some things to consider are ...

Expense - It's not the cheapest flooring.
Preparation - On concrete floors you will (probably) need a latex skim of sorts to smooth the floor out.

The end result is stunning though, and will last for many years with companies like Karndean giving very long warranties, particularly on their higher end products.

I believe even their basic range has a 10 year wear warranty.

As someone has already said it is personal choice.

I have Matt tiles on the floor in the upstairs which are fine and not cold at all, or slippy. In the downstairs I have slate with underfloor heating, be too cold on the feet without any form of heating underneath as they are on concrete base.

We have Karndean down in both bathrooms. OK it is expensive but with bathrooms being fairly small it is not a huge train smash.

Looks really nice, and soft and warm underfoot. Easy to lay too.

Anyone tried that rubber studded sheet? Expensive but looks good for bathrooms?
