Just looking to re-fit bathroom and would appreciate views on the best floor covering. We currently have carpet and quite like it but carpet seems to be a 'no go' now days. Considered tiles but worried they may be slippery and cold, advised by plumber that laminate not ideal in bathroom, which sort of leaves vinyl. Would really be interested to know what people have. Thanks

It's your house, if you want carpet and manage to keep it dry in the past go for it. If you sell a square of vinyl won't be much.
For me tiles is best, but they can be cold and add too much height at door thresholds.0 -
I have thick vinyl , its soft and warm underfoot, easy to clean and wipe up any spills. Carpet has always been a no no for me in a bathroom as it soons smells of damp . If your bathroom has a radiator the vinyl soon warms up even on a cold day.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

tiles are only slippery if you choose the wrong one! and only cold if fitted onto a cold substrate. if its a wooden bathroom floor, go for a tile with a slight texture and its fine.
you need to prep the floor properly though0 -
I think that it is a matter of personal choice really, we prefer cork tiles that have been sealed so that you can wash with water plus when walking on them in bare feet it is quite a comfortable feeling.:)0

Good quality vinyl: easier to clean than carpet, warmer underfoot than unheated tiles.0

Is that waterproof carpet still available these days? It's going back some years since I saw it.
A search throws up Flotex which seems like it might be a good alternative to Vinyl and slightly warmer.
I'm interested in the ideas in this thread myself because I will be in a similar position myself later this year.
I would never use laminate in a bathroom or anywhere else for that matter. Vinyl seems a bit cold and not ideal and regular carpet could be prone to damp and mould. I wonder whether synthetic carpet would be more resistant to mould?0 -
Def. vinyl. Had in my last place and it was fine, bought a place with tiles and they are sooooooo cold.0

Vinyl tiling in mine, but there are pipes running under the floor which give a slight taster for how lovely underfloor heating must be. I wouldn't want carpet (have in the past) or laminate in a bathroom.0
