I've messed up and I don't know what to do

Help

I have just been told today I may face a disciplinary for the way I conduct myself on internal calls. I know have to wait till Tuesday to find out if they wish to take it any further.

I am going out of my mind and am sick with worry.

I don't know why I'm posting this but I have no-one else to talk too about it

What exactly do they feel is wrong with the way you conduct yourself on those calls?

Do you agree with the 'charge'?

How long have you been with your employer?

We aren't meant to spend to long chatting on the phone, or use inappropriate language or be derogatory about the other call I on occasion have done all three. By derogatory I meant I called a couple of people stupid.

I have worked there 3 years. I do agree cause I know i often speak before I think

Nothing is worth making yourself ill so unless you have a history of constant misconduct, then no doubt you will just receive a slap on the wrists. Try to put things into perspective, it's a discipline meeting and not a firing squad. Meantime please try not to worry too much.

Thanks ditzy the only thing I have had are a couple of action plans but I have passed those easily and made improvements in the areas since.

I think it's because I love my job so much that I don't know what I'd do without it

  • You are on a slippery slope - you need to use this as an opportunity to make a change. You shouldn't have had "a couple of action plans", and they should not be needing to consider whether to discipline you now. Go in on Tuesday with apologies (for the boss and for those that you called names) and with your own action plan as to how you will ensure these events never happen again.

Whilst I also feel its likely it maybe a lower disciplinary you can't say for sure that they wouldn't dismiss, especially if derogatory is the main thrust of their arguement.

All the OP can do is grovel and apologise and hope that their good work in the past goes for them

I'm interested in how you thought calling people stupid was an improvement?

You mentioned spending too long on the phone, inappropriate language and making derogatory comments.

What sort of inappropriate language are you talking about here?

Can I ask something this meeting was attended by a note taker I think (they didn't say she was doing that) they laid out all the things that I has done wrong and I had to explain myself. They then said they would decide on Monday if I would be getting a disciplinary this then changed to Tuesday at the end of the meeting. I was told to read the disaplinary procedure online. I was asked what i feel to be a very personal questions with lots of damaging consequences. I wasnt asked to read over the notes if there were any and I didn't get a copy.

    Does this mean anything??

The previous action plans were for unrelated things to this. This is a whole new issue.

  • It was an investigatory meeting, I'm not sure what you think it might mean?

What sort of personal questions were you asked?
