Thanks for that I guess there will always be situations like this as not all people are as straight as all of us for varying reasons. Good site though, it's in my faves now.

The broker I'll be working for is totally independent, not tied to any EA's or panels and they write a MASSIVE amount of business in London so again it's good to know that this is a good thing. They also do a large proportion of near and subprime business which again meets with that point.

Also having worked in sales for 3 years I've learnt to always read between the lines, I guess it helps to be a cynic sometimes huh? My failing is I'm forever the optimist so 9/10 times I'm disappointed but I guess it also gives me the drive to succeed and have belief in others.

OMG I cannot believe what that man has been through and I only hope the FSA take his name and address and investigate the cowboys concerned.

He obviously has principles and a conscience hence the letter, so with a bit more experience could be an excellent broker.

I wonder if he has got another job yet the poor thing? :(

Keep that optimism my young friend, be positive, never rule anything out without some sheer hard graft and be nice to everyone. There will always be people who question the motives of a PPP (permanently positive person) but it rubs off on people for the better

good luck in your new job

Go into it with your eyes wide open, try and filter out the corporate sales propaganda !!!!!!!! and use the following letter from this week's MI as a salutory tale

Ahhhh yes, that sounds so familiar. If one has scruples one is screwed. Don't I know it.

Do the FSA never get involved when a Company/Network is causing problems like this for their workforce?

nope - the FSA is there to protect the consumer mainly. Yes the broker could whistleblow to the FSA and they may investigate their files etc...

Your joking us brokers have no protection at all - firms have obligations to treat their clients fairly but I've not seen anyting about treating staff fairly. This is a sore subject with me at the moment so before I go off into heated rant mode I will shut up.

TCF could in fact include a lot about employment structures,
does the way they are paid influence sales practices / staff turnover etc.

Its almost a blank page for the future investigations

don't think they recognize any of the UK "qualifications" in this area.

Chances of getting Green card / work permit on back of being a mortgage adviser I would have thought are very low ( alothough if other reasons like family mean you get in then its a possibility)
