Buy nearly new car now or wait till march?

Looking to buy a nearly new car probably a nissan quashqia..........saw one we like but now thinking should we wait until new plate comes out on 1st march when perhaps we will get a better deal? This is the first time we have considered spending this kind of money £10K approx......and have worked hard to afford a deposit......just not sure if we wait a couple of weeks if we will get a better deal??? any advice much appreciated

You say you've saved hard to get a deposit. Why not just spend this money on a car and don't get any finance? I've never understood the need to buy a car on finance. You'll end up paying over the odds for something that will only depreciate in value. Anyway, enough of my views...

If you're buying nearly new rather than new, then it doesn't really matter when you buy it. If you were buying new, you might be able to strike a good deal on a 62 plate car just days before the 13 plates come out, especially with dealer stock ready to go, but you aren't looking to do that.

Now, Next week, 6 Months down the line?

    There are ALWAYS better deals.

The cars on the forecourt your looking at now can be bought from the change in your pocket in 5 years.

Find the car you want and buy it when you find it.

Good Luck with whatever you decided to do, I've been trying to buy a brand new car off Nissan since December - tell them exactly what I want, with a simple question of "what's the best price for a cash purchase?" - then they start with all the finance blurb, etc., and after losing the will to live, and not getting a straight answer, I then leave the dealership. I'm now on my third dealership and running out of dealerships within striking distance of home. Think I need to find another vehicle as opposed to dealership.

Try a broker. Some people on this site have recommended http://www.drivethedeal.com/

How so? The car will depreciate either way, and if you can get 0% finance, which some dealers are offering, then you get the advantage of inflation eroding the value of your payments over the finance period, and if you're paying from a sum you've invested, you'll get interest on the remaining sum.

There may, of course, be other considerations with finance agreements, but I don't see the problem with 0% financing per se.

If they're offering 0% finance then the price of the car is probably overinflated. They aren't going to give away free loans.

Because cash doesnt get you a discount, thats why, and most dealers nowadays work to small margins, so the screen price is the best price

There is no incentive for a dealer to accept cash. At least with finance they get commission so makes up for not reaching manuf targets for bonuses

I'm sure that's true in some cases; but if it's the best price you can find for the car you want...

Worth bearing in mind that with Drive The Deal you can get a discounted price and still take advantage of dealer financing if it's advantageous.

you can do the same through Orangewheels, I'm in the process of ordering a Qashqai through them, though I don't want the finance.
