Hi ladies
Im new on here not having used the forum for ages BUT here I am looking for help
So I found out yesterday I was 14 wks pregnant, after 2 positve tests on tuesday. I was told 7 yrs ago I would need IVF and 10 months ago my dr in passing said due to my weight if I wanted IVF i would need to loose weight b4 - after xmas i started dieting incase I suddenly wanted ivf and then had to loose weight (if that makes sence)
Well my husband and I are expecting and I have no idea what to do - I'm part time at work (but was planning on being fulltime for 6 months prior to trying for a baby) we have no savings as we have just spent it on a horsebox
so what maternity benefits am i allowed? my husband is self employed but hasnt had to pay tax yet due to earnings.
My head is spinning and last year we moved into a none child friendly home, a small bungalow that backs onto the canel with a 20ft drop from the patio onto the garden
and to top it off Ive had 2 panic attacks and my motherin law is about to give me a break down 24hrs after a positve test multiple carrier bags of clothes have appeared at my home
Advice welcome please
Andy

Firstly - congratulations!
Secondly - take a deep breath..............
Have a look at your company policy regarding maternity leave and pay etc. Each company is different so it is important to know yours and to follow their process - you should still be able to increase your hours anyway.
You are entitiled to time off work for antinatal appointments etc and any pregnancy related illnesses can't be held against you.
As for your house - see what you can do to child proof it in the next year or so. The child won't be walking without assistance until about 1 so you have plenty of time - don't worry.
As for clothes / equipment - smile, say thank you, put it in a cupboard and worry about it closer to the due date! Take whatever you can get. The only things recommended that you need new are matteresses and a car seat.
Smile, relax and enjoy the pregnancy!Sealed Pot Challenge Member Number #19060 -
Wow, contratulations, what a fantastic surprise!! :T
You'll have to speak to your HR department about maternity entitlement, some give over and above the legal minimum, some stick to it to the letter, minimum you're entitled to is here:
https://www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance/overview
As for the garden, at some stage you will have to put a fence across the garden, either right at the bottom or further up, but it won't have to be high and can have a gate so you can still use the bottom half. But that won't be for ages, you've probably got another year before that has to be done.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Andy huge congratulations. Folic acid? Marvellous reason to limit your Mil exposure!! X0

folic acid is recommended up to 13 weeks.. so OP is passed that.
MIL's are to be avoided at such times lol..
