I doubt there is much you can do. The line they seem to have given you is "we can't guarantee the work" so that would say it is a policy thing rather than something you can outline as a deliberate rip off.

Might be worth going straight to the dealer next time though. I can't imagine Halfords labour rate is too cheap and some will negociate/offer a discount if needed in terms of price matching. I know my local Honda place does although the indy is generally better overall for mechanical jobs.

Thanks. It's not a "typical" Halfords garage. Halfords took over a local specialist garage in my area and rebranded it under the Halfords banner but with the old staff still there.

Yes but they take their orders from Halfords HQ so any reputation they had has now gone out the window. If I was you I'd chalk it up to experience and move on.

Thanks for sharing though, it'll hopefully make people make more informed decisions on using the Halfrauds (sic) chain.

Always makes me smile when I see posts like yours.

Telling me to "get a life" because I share a story on a forum yet you've obviously got far more important things to do with your time.....oh hang on a minute.... you ALSO have time to post on here.

    Glad it made you smile.
I didn't suggest you "get a life" because you were posting on a forum.
    Please stop posting drivel.:p
Use a proper garage not under Halfrauds control.
    I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p

You suggested I "get a life" for what reason then ?

Sharing my experience with other members on this board ?

What is your definition of a "proper" garage ? The main dealer ? The reality is many of us can't afford to pay main dealer prices for repairs especially when main dealers charge even more than Halfords so I don't exactly see your point.

The garage I went to is an approved Indie garage for my make of car.

  • Lesson to learn is if you suspect the failure is same thing you had done on the other light a couple of months ago, then replace it yourself. it will always be cheapest and this is MSE after all.

i would also move on from this and find a new garage for future work

How can Halfrauds be an approved independant garage?

  • Indie? How the heck is this an independent garage if its owned by Halfords?!

I struggle to see how anyone could confuse the two.

    Unbelievable !

I try to share an experience on here and instead I get attacked by people picking apart every word I say.

The garage was an independent garage. If it's "status" has now changed then I made a mistake in describing it but as I have tried to explain it's not a regular Halfords garage. Scroll up to read.

yes they are, they behaved exactly like a typical Halfords garage; learn the lesson - don't use Halfords !
    Simples.

My local pub, "The Green Jackets", is now a Tesco express, but it's still an independent pub to me as it just says "Tesco" above the door, and not "we are evil an evil horse meat feeding multi-national company only interested in profit". So, I still shop there.
