Ryanair false delay data?

Just checked an epic delay on flightstats - on 6th September 2008 we were stuck in the departure lounge at Teesside with a 3 month old and a 2 year old for nine hours, so it's firmly fixed in our memories. The delay was caused by a broken down plane in Spain, with the part being flown from Glasgow to Girona and then the plane coming to Teesside - so definitely at fault.

Oddly, flightstats shows a delay of...... 22 minutes. We have time and date stamped photos of increasingly tired children/parents. What are our chances if the records have been fudged?

Was tossing up whether to claim but going to try on principle now!

Ryanair are not responsible for the data on flightstats.com so no records have been fudged. Flightstats data is only as good as their own data sources as the site acknowledges. You should always check multiple data sources if you absolutely need that information (and I'm not convinced that anyone does since if you were subject to a long delay, then you will surely remember it, as you do).

Flightaware.com may hold the information you require but archive data is only available for a fee.

You need to write to the airline with details of your claim in any case so do so and see what 'extraordinary' reason they respond with.
