in Credit cards
On the verge of obtaining my first credit card!
As far as I am aware my credit history/report is terrible, BUT!
bored one afternoon I called Santander to see if I could upgrade my account and to my astonishment I was successful! I just had the basic bank account before and now I have debit card etc.
Feeling pleased I thought I would try for the 123 credit card aswell and I was approved and sucsesful! Over the phone.
I received a letter asking me to verify my ID which I have done and now just waiting to see whether I get it or not? They seemed really positive over the phone but I have a feeling it will be declined at last minute? Anyone else had to send in ID for this card? Can they say approved when actually you might not get the card? Waiting on what's next to come through the letterbox, hopefully a credit agreement. Hope I get the credit card.
Thanks for reading.

Surely by going through all these motions just to decline you, they'd be wasting their time and money.
Maybe worth waiting a few days and seeing - from what you say it sounds like it should be OK.0 -
I don't know about telephone applications -but when I applied for my 123 card on-line, the card came two day's later (and the credit limit was on the letter with the card) - I did not need to sign a credit agreement on paper, but perhaps this is because I 'e-signed' it.
The only question is - if you already had a current account -why did you have to send in ID and normally, they check this electronically?
Are you on the electoral roll? Normally, when they check Credit Records, they do a anti-money laundering.KYC check.
Perhaps they have been working on an internal bank score so far.
They seem to be pretty quick. Good luck

Good luck! And remember to PAY IT IN FULL every month! It's great for cashback but has no 0% period....SPC Member #112 :A Save £2k in 2014 # 160 :money:0

Ive had to create another account here as my previous account i could no longer log in ?? very strange,
anyway, i applied over the phone last week and i too signed electronically, i had to log in via my computer and follow the advice from the santander sales bloke over the phone...
He told me the application was successful and indicated my credit limit.
that was wednedsay last week, now its friday of the following week and still nothing??
grrrrrrr
ive sent in verification of id at the beginning of this week and called santander today, they said my application is marked complete!? but they are awaiting my id?? they say they might have the ID but the system does not show this at present?? very confusing lol...
still non the wiser if i get the card or not......lol
sitting and waiting.

Really? I hadn't realised that...I assumed it was standard practice, maybe even a legal requirement, that all credit cards have the "up to 56 days" grace period thing?
I'm pretty sure the majority of cards do - not always 56 days, some 49-60 days, dependent on the card.
The santander card has a 56 day purchases only, grace period. Interest is charged immediately on cash withdrawals.Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -
Not planning using the grace period, if i get the card i will be paying the balance in full.
Nothing in the post today! Eeek!0 -

I don't get what you mean - if you pay your statement balance in full, by the time on the statement - you don't get charged for the interest. This is the grace period - not being charged interest on your balance, as long as it is fully paid off, on-time.
If you have on-line banking, perhaps it would show their -along with a credit record and card number?
Good luck, once again :j:jThank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -
Sorry i meant the grace period of 56 days. I won't be leaving a balance outstanding that long. As soon as i receive a statement i shall be clearing the balance.
Just my 3 accounts showing online. No credit card details showing there. I will just have to be patient and wait and see. Thanks.0 -
well suddenly the credit card details have appeared on my online banking!!
with a credit limit of £500 !!
My first ever credit card.... lol, god knows how i secured that??
thanks for all the comments folks...
(still waiting on the card though )0
