Liar Liar Pants on Fire?

I bought a 3DS on friday, postage was special delivery 24. I messaged seller for the tracking as it was marked as dispatched on tuesday. They ignored me so I messaged again, they replied yesterday saying that it was ebay, not him, that had marked it as dispatched and that his mother had posted it wednesday and had the recipets but it should be here today before 1pm. He later messaged me saying that, well here you go:

I have now spoken to my Mother and Royal Mail have cocked up yet again. They informed my Mother that she did not need a postage receipt or proof of postage as eBay provide me with them already which is wrong. So unfortunately as I have no receipt I do not have a tracking number to provide you with.

I apologise but there is nothing I can do to resolve this, as I mentioned in my previous message it will be delivered before 1pm tomorrow and it will arrive when you normally receive parcel deliveries if you know when that is.

Sorry again that I can not be any further help, Regards

They have recently had negative feedback for items not sent and claims having to be made through paypal so, what do I do? Do I wait a bit longer then try to cancel the transaction (I do not believe for one minute that they have posted it and it would be here by now) or do I open a claim tomorrow? (when ebay has said I am able to) Thank you once again :)

I would hang on another couple of days to be honest.

This morning I received 2 items, one was posted last Monday, one was posted Tuesday.
I also posted 7 items myself on Monday and I have already had feedback for 3 of them.

No proof of tracking, no goods PayPal will find in your favour when you open a claim.
I would wait until Friday (a week after payment on 24 hour delivery of item) and if you have no goods open a dispute and escalate straight away via PayPal and not eBay, in the mean time send seller an email via eBay to say that you will open a dispute and esculate tomorrow.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

Not sure this is a good idea. I think you run the risk that any feedback you leave can be removed at the seller's request if you have threatened opening a dispute.

Yes, don't contact them. Just submit the claim (via PayPal) and follow the normal procedure.

You will get your money back so don't worry.

Well I messaged saying I have never heard of a post office saying you didn't need a reciept and asked for a refund and this is my reply:

    Hi,

I've posted more items than I care to count via Special Delivery and I am more than aware that when you send it via a Post Office then you are provided with a receipt which includes the tracking number.

Though as I paid for postage online prior to taking it to the Post Office the employee at the Post Office believed I required no receipt as eBay already provided me with one. My Mother had requested proof of postage which they told her was not required as I also got this with my receipt, which is incorrect.

As I have mentioned before I have no receipt and therefore no tracking number. I will trace the item with Royal Mail as it will have been logged at the Sorting Office. Once I have an update from them I will let you know.

As for providing you with an immediate refund I will not do this as I have posted the item to you and it will arrive. As Royal Mail have made a serious error in this I will have the postage costs refunded which I will pass back to you.

    Regards

So I have not threatened to open a case as I will be leaving neg and I don't want it removed so I will see if it turns up tomorrow and go from there.

Just wondered if you can print Special Delivery postage from paypal? Oe is this a lie?

You can print postage, but postoffice still need to add all the special delivery labels and tracking info

The bit about asking for proof of posting is odd, because when you use special delivery they autimatically give you the tracking info. You only tend to ask for proof, uf you are sending standard mail

Yes you can pay for special delivery via paypal but the parcel would need to be taken into a post office for the cashier to attach the tracking numbers etc.
I have done this in the past for international tracking as well but always make it clear to the cashier that that is what it is so they give me the relevant tracking info.

If it was sent special delivery on Wednesday like seller claims then it would have been with you today.

Completely think they are making stuff up, if it doesn't arrive tomorrow I would open the case in paypal straight away.

Depending on what time it was posted, it could have missed last collection on wednesday, so tomorrow is the latest it should arrive

Just curious, how much did they charge for postage?
