Hiya,
Just wondering if anyone could help advise me?
I'm going abroad to work in 6 weeks time for about 5 months and was wondering what would be the best way to go about using a mobile abroad?
I currently have PAYG on Orange and a Month2Month contract with o2, but don't know if these will be anygood when I get out there. My phone is unlocked to all networks.
Would it be better for me to buy a sim out there (spain/Greece....wherever I end up) or would it be better for me to get a contract here in the UK before I leave?
I want it to keep in contact with family & friends but also as an emergency when I am out there.
Help!!!
Thanks guys!!!

You've got a few options available to you - if you're stopping in one country then I would buy a local sim for the calls you make locally and use a payphone with a phonecard for phoning home - these usually give you a number of units for a set price and work out much cheaper than standard rates eg in spain - Euro direct card, available almost everywhere. 6 euros for 240 minutes to a UK landline from a Spanish landline or public phone, and 60 minutes to a mobile.
If you're visiting a number of countries you might be better off buying a sim on-line before you go which can be used at a more or less standard rate in most european countries - just google international sim and compare the rates.
Don't get a contract here - it costs a fortune to call home and you'll also be charged for calls/texts sent to you from the Uk. Hope that's helpful!0 -
