Hi, Apologies if my thread is a duplicate one. I searched for my query related to emirates but couldn't find anything so posting a new thread.
Any advice will be very helpful as I spent lot of money on it and thanks to MSE for making me aware of this compensation.
In Aug 2012, we had to go to India in an emergency and I booked tickets thru emirates from Manchester. Our flight was at 14:10 but when we reached airport we were told there is around 8 to 9 hrs delay and were asked to come at 22:10. we were also told that we need to wait another 9 hrs in Dubai for next day flight to Hyderabad, India. we will be given accomodation, food etc. Since we had to go at any cost and we didn't have any choice, we accepted it. Because of this the domestic tickets that I booked in India were lost. I had to cancel them and arrange accomdation in Hyderabad for overnight etc. I asked for compensation for those on that day but was told they won't pay.
So overall it was a delay of 8-9 hrs in UK (Manchester) and 9 hrs delay in Dubai, I lost the ticket price of domestic flight in India and had to arrange accomodation, food etc in Hyderabad.
I have written an email to Emirates about this a month ago and yet to receive reply. unfortunately I have not used the format specified by MSE. I'm thinking of chasing them and that time will use the format.
Not sure what will be the compensation. In MSE advise, it was mentioned around Euros 600 for more than 4 hrs delay. But not sure whether my Dubai delay will be considered and also domestic tickets that I lost will be considered. Please can somebody advice how much compensation I can get and share any similar experience with Emirates like this.
Thanks in advance,

You are due 600 euros per passenger for the delay of more than 3 hours in reaching your final destination. Domestic ticket if not on same reservation is not able to be compensated.
Write to the airline and ask them to send you the required compensation. Put a time limit on your letter with the proviso that unless you receive the compensation by that date you will commence legal action without further notice.
Thanks Centipede for your quick advice. Yes, I was on that flight. But my final destination was Hyderabad. the change over was in Dubai. Just wanted to know where we can find the delay timing. The scheduled start time 14:10 but I'm sure it started after 22:10.
One more thing is since my final destination was Hyderabad, and the connecting flight to India from Dubai which is on the same reservation was also delayed around 9hrs. Will I be paid for that?0 -
Hi Centipede, I have received the reply from Emirates saying they have credited 60000 skywards miles to our membership. I need to check this as we never had any skywards membership or used before. However I'm not sure how much worth is these rewards and also think it would not be useful for me as I may find cheaper flights thru other airlines. so I would like to reject this and receive compensation in terms of money. Please can you advice whether I can do this. or do you think 60K skyrewards is good comp for our family of 4.
Thanks,0 -
Emirates has confirmed that they will pay the compensation soon.
Thanks To Centipede and MSE without you guys I couldn't have got the compensation. I travelled in an emergency and paid lot of money and gone thru lot of pain and emotions. This compensation is giving us some relief.0
