cancelled Kingfisher flight

I had a flight booked last April Heathrow to Delhi with Kingfisher Airlines through 9Flights in London. On the day before I was due to fly I tried to check in online and when I was unable to do so rang 9flights. They told me the flight was cancelled and did not offer me an alternative. I was meeting a friend there who was travelling from the Middle East and our itinery had already been booked and paid for. I had to find myself a new flight which went a day later and cost me £500 more and I had to fly back from Mymbai which meant a further flight and hotel stay.
It took 3 months for 9flights to return my flight money which still made me in excess of £500 out of pocket.
Would I qualify for compensation ?
