I totally believe if I nourish my body properly then my problems should start to improve.
Of course I know I shouldn't buy the junk - it's just something I have done but I intend to overhaul the whole family.
Good. That's the start of the plan.0 -

Drugs/alcohol/cigarettes can all be removed from a persons life completely.
But you can't remove food.

That's true, but see it another way. A person dependant on drugs, fags or alcohol has to give up the thing they love forever.
A person that enjoys food 'too much' can still get to enjoy it daily but will have to modify their relationship with it.0 -
That is indeed a different way to see it... and putting it yet another way an ex alcoholic is at least at the top of the slippery slope (they just can't put a foot on it) but an ex-food addict will always have at least one foot on it.
EDs have a far bigger relapse rate than most drugs.

Ok, how about you put yourself in the same position as the OP. You tackle your addiction by continuing to drink 3 times a day.
Come back and let us know when you get sober again...
I think you are missing the point somewhat.
Someone that eats 3 times a day isn't always a bingeing food addict. Someone that drinks alcohol 3 times a day isn't always addicted to it.0 -
8 weeks is enough to break any habit. Not having a plan and just moaning is a sure way to continue just as you are.

Are you going back on the drugs then?
No because I know I am an addict and have strategies in place to never use them again unless under medical supervision. Thinking you have beaten it forever is the route to backsliding.
I thought about them every day for years after I gave them up, I couldn't watch drug scenes in films right up untill Pulp fiction came out without imagining the rush and the aftermath. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Good luck with abstaining Cleggy, but don't get complacent, there will always be a part of your brain devoted to the drug and all too ready to clamber back on the addiction train, take it carefully one day at a time.
When I was trying to give up cigs it took several attempts, I even managed 8 months then started again, but so far it's been nearly 8 years

I have to agree with cleggy, all I am seeing is excuses. If it is too slippy to go for a run then you go for a walk instead, if you feel weak and dizzy after the gym you have something to eat - you don't just stop.
If you don't agree that you are making excuses I am happy to list them for you - or you can simply reread the thread.
You clearly have issues with food, but the main one is a lack of knowledge. You have been given some excellent dietary advice on this thread and I would suggest you follow it (without excuses
). There really is only one person that can solve this for you, and that is you. 0 -

Thanks. I wasn't properly addicted in a Gazza type way. Mine was just an enjoyable bad habit. It was easily stopped once I'd made a plan to stop for good.
My main reason for giving up was to lose the 2 stone I'd gained over the past year or so.
Like the OP here with junk food though, not buying it and having it in the house is the best policy.
You can't eat or drink or take or smoke what you don't have to hand.0
