Porting and new contract enquiry?

Hi All,

Can somebody please shed some light on my query?

My contract runs out in september 07 and i cant cancel before that as i am on cashback deal. There are few new deals coming out these days which i am interested in buying. My query is if i take a new contract in May, will i be able to port my number in september, if no then how long into a ongoing contract can you port a new number.

T-Mobile, Virgin & 3 will allow you to port in at any time, Orange used to but not sure if this has changed.

I believe you can only port into Vodafone at the start of a contract and where O2 are concerned - you would be lucky to get two customer service reps to give you the same answer!

Orange allows you to port at a later date as well, but it has to be within 6 months

with vodafone you can port a number out at anytime, if you are in contract and want to port a number out, you still can, but you need to pay the shortfall - as soon as you request your pac code from vodafone you will be contacted by the 'saves' department who will try to keep you, you are then in the best position to bargain for a better deal
